This year we are reading Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler (http://www.amazon.com/Why-We-Broke-Daniel-Handler/dp/0316127256/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372211621&sr=8-1&keywords=why+we+broke+up)
Hey guys, so I just got the book today and let me tell you, if you get this as an e-book that is only black and white you are missing out on some fanciful artwork.
The guidelines for the book club are as follows:
1.I am dividing the book by PAGE NUMBER. Hopefully this shouldn't be too much of a problem as the paperback copy is not yet released in the US (or other countries to my knowledge, I didn't check). If you get an e-book sometimes they don't have those so I will try my best to explain where we are. I am hoping to start reading by next week, which means that discussion should start by like July 7th. I hope that's okay for everyone.
2. If you have read this book/read ahead please DO NOT discuss anything that is beyond the pages we are up to in the discussion.
3. Hermes has volunteered to lead the discussion with me as my life as a grown up has somewhat taken over. Hopefully Daniel Handler will join us or stop by so please be on your best behavior!
Generally in the past someone starts off by asking a question pertaining to the book, we discuss that point for a while and then someone else asks a question. It's fairly non-structured aside from the reading schedule so anyone can ask a question at any time. The only real rule I would implement is the no-spoiler rule. It has also come to my attention that there is something called spoiler coding which I have no idea what that is. If you know how to do that, and you are dying to post a spoiler, go ahead. Just preview your post before you post it so we can avoid any spoilers.
Reading schedule is as follows:
July 7th - July 14th: pages 1-65
July 15th - July 22nd: pages 66- 142
July 23rd - July 30th: pages 143- 244
August 1st - August 8th: pages 245 - the end of the book
It's not a very long book so I hope this is okay for everyone.
Dante, if you could please inform Mr. Handler or whoever you usually talk to that talks to him of that would be excellent. Thank you everyone!
