Series 3 all still feels a little unreal, like it feels almost like fanfiction to me. I think they've really humanised Sherlock, and somehow it doesn't seem to fit with the previous two seasons. Don't get me wrong, I think S3 was fantastic, but it's like I need time to mull it all over and fit the pieces together.

Ugh yes I am such a massive fan of Sherlock, but the 3rd season really seemed to jar with me. I agree with Bee that it felt like fan fiction -- the characterisations were more wishful thinking than based on the foundations that had been laid in the previous series. I just hope they get back on track for series 4....

Here's an interesting article. I agree with the author, except that I'm not as bothered by the phenomenon as he is. The idea that it's a sign of a narcissistic culture is valid and interesting, but I don't feel entirely sure of it. This definitely looks like a thing that's happening, but it's not necessarily a bad thing.
