Hey, just checking; has anyone received their prizes yet? I only ask because it's been a while now and no sign of anything ... I don't really know how long these things take, especially in the US (I'm from the UK) so I don't really know what to expect. Thanks!

It seems all of the winners here are from the UK.

Oh really? I didn't know that! What a curious coincidence ...

Oh wow, are we seriously all from the U.K.? Lemony Snicket really did well here, it seems.
I'll use the Tumblr listing of all the other winners to check their Tumblrs and things, and see if any of them have reported netting prizes yet. ...Doesn't look like any of them so far. But Snicket's had a couple of lulls in his tour so far, so if there's been any difficulty completing the prizes, I should hope it's mostly overcome by now.

Thanks, that's really kind of you. At least if that's the case then it's not just a few people, but everyone -- so probably no problem getting them to people, just a delay in sending them out or something ...

Thinking about it... Mr. Snicket has to sign three books for each person (four if File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents is included, though I'm assuming not), which makes thirty-nine books to sign (or fifty-two). They need to create prints of everyone's work. They need to arrange to obtain a $50 gift certificate to each individual's favourite bookstore, some of which will need to be in non-dollar currency equivalents (e.g. all of us from the U.K. - it's about £30 right now) - though I gather that some or all of the gift certificates will be e-mailed to us so we shouldn't have any difficulty knowing when they sent those out, at least! Plus anything else they want to send. So those are quite a few things for several individuals in different parts of the United States to co-ordinate, so it's kind of fine if it takes a while. They're very busy people.

I had just gained the impression that they'd already been sent out from the announcement of the last winner -- you know, the stuff they wrote about needing to know who it was so that they could send off the prizes -- it just sounded kind of like they were all ready to be shipped, so I was slightly worried something had gone wrong. But then, they were probably just adding to the drama of the moment in true Snicket style.

I didn't take it that way; I just thought it was probably a good idea to think about everything they had to do, on top of everything that Little Brown's staff are probably busy with as well. Things will always be slower than we'd like.

Oh good, I'm glad. True, very true, we'll just have to wait patiently.

Bit of an update -- I was talking to one of the other winners on tumblr (who is from France -- I haven't heard of a single confirmed winner from the US yet!) and they were asking if I had received anything yet because they hadn't, and I said that no, I hadn't, and no one else had to my knowledge, and anyway, they ended up sending them a message to ask about it all, and they replied today with this: "Hi there. It seems we had an internal mix up and the packages had a bit of a delay going out. Thank you for letting us know, we’ve corrected the mistake and will be sending them out this week! If you do not receive your package by 12/15, please email our team at lemonysnicketlibrary@gmail. com." So, there we go! So excited!

U.S. dates always confuse me. I looked at "12/15" and thought "December 2015? That's a bit long to wait!" Oh well, glad that's cleared up, then!

Haha, me too! I thought exactly the same when I first saw the message; I'm certainly glad we don't have to wait over a year! Yes; I'm glad the other winner messaged them; it's nice to know what's going on.

Well I didn't mix it up with Dec 2015 so I just thought dang, still nearly a month before I'll get to read Snicket's SYBIS : [ But I won't cave now and sit out the time; anyway, I'm also excited, and thank you for contacting them, violetbunfortunate& acquaintances!

Well, not necessarily -- it might arrive way earlier than that, and the 15th is just the date by which we should contact them if it hasn't arrived. I'm afraid I cracked a while ago and bought a copy of SYBIS (I was going to anyway, because the copies they send out will probably be the US editions, and I wanted to have the UK one too, as it matches the previous books) and read it all and loved it all so much -- seriously, it's so amazing -- so when the packages arrive I shall instead have a grand re-read of all of them together, rather than a first time read of SYBIS. ^-^ You're welcome! I'm glad we all know a bit more now.
