Do you know how long it took them to correct the missing illustrations, Dante? Is my first edition error copy that I've never replaced for a corrected version particularly valuable? I think they didn't replace it quite as soon as they said they would. They did eventually, that I know; they did for the paperbacks that came out relatively soon afterwards. I'm not sure they ever fixed the original hardcover editions, though.

I have the audiobook for The Grim Grotto, and it does not have the aforementioned incidental music over the final paragraphs, or a To My Kind Editor note. Perhaps the British editions somehow included them while the American editions didn't?

My hardcover copy bought in 2008 was still first edition, and didn't have the missing pictures (although it took me 6 years to discover this).

Perhaps the British editions somehow included them while the American editions didn't? To clarify, since this seems to have caused some confusion: I was saying earlier that the To My Kind Editor letters at the end of TGG, referring to TPP, are not present, the only time that the editor letter is missing from the audiobook after it was introduced at the end of TMM. As the editor letters are present in both TPP and TE, I assume they couldn't find a way of translating them to audio that worked.

Seems baffling; the TGG Kind Editor letter(s) are pretty straightforward. Just add a ripping sound where each line ends.

Well, there's a slightly intriguing change to Chapter Fourteen in "The End" audiobook, and it's this: it's not presented as a separate entity to "The End". The Kind Editor letter has been moved so it comes after Chapter Fourteen, right at the end of the book, meaning that we go straight from Chapter Thirteen to Chapter Fourteen without any pause. Chapter Fourteen is not identified as "Book the Last", and both the Beatrice dedication and the epitaph on the fake copyright info page are missing.
We also get to hear the Gothic Archies song in full at the end of Chapter Fourteen, I believe for the first time since TMM.

The vibe I get from that is that, like a lot of these omissions, they didn't want people to be confused and think they'd reached the end of the audiobook before the actual end... but I feel there must have been a better way of doing it. As it stands, it seems like audiobook listeners aren't getting the same or the correct experience.

It's the moving of the editor's letter I find really bizarre, as that just makes it so obvious that something's been changed. If they were trying to avoid confusing people about the end, it could have - nay, should have - been inserted between chapters 13 and 14 even if they didn't want to treat Chapter Fourteen as a separate entity. (Particularly due to the reference in Chapter Thirteen to this being the thirteenth chapter of the thirteenth book.)

I do find that the audio series isn't as consistent as it should be, in terms with letters to the editor and even Curry's portrayal of characters change from one book to another.
My copy of PP has a couple of audioskips, but maybe that is due to the secondhand nature of how I bought them. I also agree with Cwn about the last track of PP, the gavel, elevator and Twinkle Twinkle; It doesn't make any sense! Still, it is my favourite book.

Someone uploaded all the ASoUE audiobooks on YouTube, each one in a single video. So I've been checking out the My Dear Editor Letters, and I also found that from TWW to TCC, they have the publisher's promo ad at the very end of each audio book recorded by Daniel Handler in a hilarious mocking voice. Here's the official version (from TGG, at 05:59:40), and here's the Handler version (at 04:37:30)
