I was wondering it we were going to do this again. I don't care about basketball or know anything really about the teams, just like last year, but there's something fun about making a bracket.

I'm curious how they're exploited? (I haven't watched John Oliver for this) I've always been slightly disgruntled with how much money they spend on certain athletic programs, giving the players full ride scholarships and spending so much on coaches and training and transportation to other schools, while other team sports are given no funding and the players have to pay for everything.

ehhhhh. im not necessarily against athletes receiving compensation but lets not pretend they get nothing. they get scholarships, an education, status and popularity as well as the chance to put themselves in the running for a career in the nba.

the problem for me is that ppl in the industry r ridic protective of it while stuff like this oliver segemet r just as biased in the opposite way. so i cant really support either side.
p.s. the part about special treatment after someone in a player's family died, i dont know if it would have been ~allowed or not, but after a ku player's mom passed away, the head coach, an assistant coach and another player's mother ALL offered separately to adopt the player's younger sister. its not all as heartless as that segment makes it seem. the player was with the team for like 3 years but they were all willing to BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS SISTER'S CARE PERMANENTLY, thats pretty damn impressive to me.

the biggest thing im offended at is that no one understands what a nonprofit is, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE A PROFIT IDIOTS, and john oliver gets points for saying b

I mean, did you watch the video? That's exactly what the NCAA claims, even though athletes are actually given decoy courses and ridiculous restrictions on their lives outside of sports so if they more than likely aren't drafted into the NBA, they get literally nothing for four years of an all-consuming basketball "career." I.e. the guy who was a star player and now works at a car dealership while the organization still makes money off his name.
