I think there might be more people here who have already read WAP than people who had already read WWBU (read: more than one), but I'd still be happy to discuss it.

I'm fairly sure at least three people had read WWBU.
And Songbird, if you like pirates, this may not be the book to go for.

Would you be accepting Zodiac by Robert Graysmith as a novel?

And Songbird, if you like pirates, this may not be the book to go for. Oh, I thought I would not like the book because I really don't like pirates. So maybe I was wrong so I should read it.

Yeah it's not really about pirates. It takes place in modern day San Francisco and is about a teenage girl who's mad at the world and takes out her anger in an unusual way. If you've read and liked any previous books written under the Handler name (as opposed to his Snicket books) you'll probably like it.

Yes, that's right, but what I had in mind was not just that it isn't about pirates, but that the idea of piracy is handled in a negative way; it's clear becoming a pirate was not a good idea. So, how many of us have read it? I already knew of four, me, Dante, Bandit and Lemona, and clearly Linda has as well - anyone else?

Oh. I can never really relate to anger, so I probably won't like it then.

Would you be accepting Zodiac by Robert Graysmith as a novel? Um I'm open to it, however I'm not sure a book about a serial killer would be appropriate for 13 year olds. I have no idea how graphic it is. Does anyone else know? Hermes: I can still relate to books about angst. I will still read it lol. So tomorrow is the last day for nominations. Make sure you nominate your books!

Oh. I can never really relate to anger, so I probably won't like it then. That's quite restricting if you only read books whose protagonists you can relate to.

I'm sorry I missed my input on this. I am currently reading:
We Are The Pirates -Daniel Handler of course Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage- Haruki Murakami Lolita -Vladamir Nabokov
The latter two no doubt massive influences of Handler.

I'm pretty sure Lolita would not count as suitable for thirteen-year-olds.

I haven't read Lolita, but Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki is probably even more inappropriate for 13 year olds.

So does everyone want to read Pirates, yes or no?

Yeah, it looks it. I think the only other proposal we've had is The Eyre Affair, and I'm fairly sure WAP would beat that.
