I personally am grateful that they're giving so little away, but it's true that there hasn't been much in the way of promotion so far. They have been scaling it back year-on-year, though. Maybe once September hits?

On the Egmont edition's Amazon page, it says that will actually be published September 1st. Is this true?

I wouldn't worry about what Amazon.com has to say when Amazon.co.uk lists the correct September 29th release date. Presumably Amazon.com was just given September as a placeholder at some point, and never got updated information.

Also listed as 1st September at lovereading4kids.co.uk, but I'll settle for the 29th as it's also my birthday... Although greatest / most frustrating thing about most Snicket releases in the UK is they often find themselves in bookshops well before the official release date, think I got SYBIS about a week and a half early last year. Trying to hold off checking all the bookshops in my area on a daily basis...

Quite a few people have been able to sneak some volumes of ATWQ early in the U.K., yes - but you also can't rely on that, as my nearest bookstore didn't get ?2 in until well after the release date. They could at least be consistent! So you always have to keep an eye on many avenues.

Yeah, I got the first book from Tesco on the Saturday before it came out (it was published on the Tuesday), but I got the next two late because book stores in my area didn't get them in for ages.
