My best friend is going to a different school, leaving me with two options for friends: a group that I can't help but get into trouble with, or a group of the most self righteous, "I am always right bow down" people in the world. On top of this all I am stressing over school work. This year I really need to apply myself and make sure I get better marks than last year, but I can't do that if I keep letting my friends departure get to me.
So what should I do? Hang out with group 1 and let my work be effected, or hang out with group 2 and be miserable (which would also take a toll on my marks)?
Another option I am considering is moving schools. Where I live there aren't many schools, one of which I'm not even eligible to attend. If I move from my current small catholic school to the bigger public school there is more of a chance for me to meet new friends, but this school has a terrible reputation and I would be so scared going there and talking to people, even the ones I'm friends with on Facebook.
Can you guys help me with this? Is this an actual significant thing or am I just blowing it up? Thanks so much in advance for helping me make this decision

Get into trouble with group 1. Sounds like group 2 would make you slip into the adult life of mediocrity earlier than with the other group.
Moving schools can be tough; depends on whether you're good at making new friends.

Become a neutral person who gets along with most people and has friends who aren't at the same school.

pick any group, but don't be a neutral person, those are the worst

Get into trouble and live on the edge with group 1, but at the same time also build your own reputation as the smart and successful badass above your friends in every way, and ultimately as a lone Wolf capable of sustaining grades and socially advantageous friendships at the same time.

it really depends on what kind of trouble youre talking about bro! i'd say hang with the people you like but you don't have to participate in the trouble.

"can't help but get into trouble" "Hang out with group 1 and let my work be effected"
um how about yes you can help it, hang out with them and *don't* let your work be effected. it's your life dude, your friends don't own you.

Also you're 13, that's nowhere near finishing school, so nobody will ever care about what you do there now, as long as you understand the basic things that you need to know for later stuff. So as long as the trouble you get in is just about school work, it's not really any trouble.

Thanks errybody, I'm just going to mash up all your advice and become a loner but also neutral badass that gets good marks and is still edgy but can control himself.

Be friends with who you want. Smoke whatever drugs you want. Study as much as you want. Balance your life man.

IDK really, but yeah don't hang around people you already know would make you miserable.
Your decision sounds good and would look nice on a business card.
