for the record, i didn't even know about the american pastoral adaptation until terry mentioned it. i want people to actually discuss his work, and not crack wise about petty details.
and ickle you too bandit, i hope you have the salsatiest birthday ever.
EDIT: besides, everyone who's not a moron knows that the only Roth adaptation worth getting excited about is Indignation

I just asked people what their thought were on Roth because he's obviously extremely acclaimed and I was lookinng to get into his work. It's not my fault that more people here either don't know about him or is just a smug, self-righteous pisshead like you

I just asked people what their thought were on Roth because he's obviously extremely acclaimed and I was lookinng to get into his work. It's not my fault that more people here either don't know about him or is just a smug, self-righteous pisshead like you tangential, cheeky replies are generally the result of an OP that lends very little direction to the desired conversation. for example if you want to talk about philip roth but all you do is create a lazy poll and say "yep." someone could have jokingly answered "who?", given the equivalent effort you put into your thread. and terry's hilari response didn't necessarily mean he didn't know anything about philip roth, just that your weak thread induced banter more so than a thoughtful reply. maybe people on this forum don't know who roth is after all, idk, but this is about the last way to find out. if you just have one question about something you want to read, try broaching the subject in the "what are you reading" thread, or even in the reading list thread that you already made. vague interest in an author shouldn't prompt you to make a thread about them and then get pissy when you don't get an outflow of rich discussion in response.

To clarify my vote and the reasons behind it, I don't know Philip Roth.
