Going on from that, though, I've thought a lot about how Kevin could be portrayed in the show. He complains all the time about being ambidextrous and hates himself for that, so I thought there could be some irony going on. Like he could be covered with scars or burns, making him look like (lack of a better word) a freak. But he focuses on the least of his problems.

When I see images of Daniel Handler and the other writers eating lox as they work, sitting at a nice restaurant together, etc., it gives me quite a bit of hope; it just appears to reflect that the 'beating heart' of the series it there. With Handler and other writer-types collaborating in this way, it seems more likely we'll see judicious use of the supplimentary material, and attention to the different themes and quriks of the series.
- It would be amusing to hear "The Young Snicket Lad" as Snicket recalls his early experiences with VFD
- I've always hoped for a Daniel Handler cameo, as well as hearing (maybe even seeing) The Gothic Arches

I love basically every suggestion in this thread; the only thing I haven't seen mentioned that I desperately want to see is juxtaposition of time periods - so for instance, horses and carriages alongside cars; telegrams being used in a store selling fibre-optic cable etc. Another thing I hope for is that we'll have some sort of a scene where the Baudelaire siblings go through a genuine emotional breakdown. Maybe when they reach their lowest point in the story (The Marvelous Marriage and Sunny being held captive in BB, or Monty's death in RR), all the silliness gets dropped and we get to see the weight of the situation. After that, the siblings sort of collect themselves and begin to figure their way out of the situation. I feel like something like that would make the casual audience pretty attached to the protagonists. It mostly depends on how good the actors are though. This is an interesting idea. I think Klaus goes through a couple of breakdowns in TBB, and I hope the Netflix show does have some sadder moments where the Baudelaires feel trapped or helpless.

Even although Kevin is a quite handsome guy in my ficverse, I still like your idea. Yes, that would make his behaviour even more ridiculous.

There certainly are lots of ways to approach Kevin; for my part, I think it would be funniest if he was the most normal-looking person imaginable, but I'm open to other interpretations.

I'm on board for either interpretation of Kevin that's been proposed. I think I'm a little more drawn to the completely normal look that Dante suggested, but I can definitely see the comedic possibilities with the version that LSWannaBe has put forward.

One thing I'm interested in seeing what they will do with is The Great Unkown because they will Probally show some of it but not too much and make sure that it casts fear over everyone.but at last that won't be till season 3.
Also it will be interesting if they bring elements from ATWQ.

For me what I always love is when Lemony goes off on a tangent about a story from his life I would love to see sequences with Lemony's back story. I agree, although I hope they do more than just the parts about his backstory. I hope they visually illustrate a lot of the completely unrelated side-stories that Snicket goes off on to try to define words and phrases. And most of all, the grim grotto episode better, better have Patrick Warbuton's Lemony Snicket giving us all a very detailed description of the water cycle, complete with pointer and chart, until he is satisfied that we are asleep and no longer watching. I want it to look, like, old educational video style. Imagine the ep just opening with that, with no explanation. Then we come back to it every time they mention it. Ugh. So good.

That reminds me of the movie's The Littlest Elf opening, which I thought was very good.

There were promo vids in 2006 prior to The End coming out that are kind of like that. I'll see if I can find them. Edit: I think this might be it?
