Not a review per se- but a very telling tweet from someone currently writing a review of the show for Empire Magazine.

Not a review per se- but a very telling tweet from someone currently writing a review of the show for Empire Magazine. I'm trying not to be so partial - positive or negative, the review is valid - but... I really want Lucy Punch/Esmé Squalor to get all of the love. Also Kitana Turnbull. I was chatting with someone who is going through the second season and he said so far, Carmelita is easily his favorite part. I'm glad because from the footage we've seen, Kitana seems like another stand-out.

I was chatting with someone who is going through the second season Is this person at liberty to reveal how they came about getting early access to the episodes... just in case someone from 667 might be able to get themselves in a similar position in time for season three? They felt the Austere Academy episodes were too similar to the first season's, but admired the freshness of the Ersatz Elevator eps. (Noting that the location + Esme, Jerome, and Jacques's appearances keep things riveting.) Does this imply that Jacques will first appear in the TEE episodes?

I'm guessing his official review will be up soon. (As will all of them... five days!) I do agree, though - we should totally start a campaign for 667 to get in on this early-access action. As for Jacques, I believe so! Tonight at WonderCon, Nathan Fillion presented an episode of ASOUE and TEE Part 1 was shown! I'm guessing that is his first appearance! (Or maybe he pops up in TAA Part 2 and they didn't want to show the audience a conclusion episode.)

A very positive review from Digital Spy. "As with last season, the show is wonderfully self-aware. While no time has passed between when we left the Baudelaires waiting at Prufrock Prepatory School and the new opening episode, Violet and Klaus give a nod to the time gap between seasons. "I feel like we've been sitting here for months," sighs Violet. "We've been waiting so long Sunny is starting to look less like a baby and more like a toddler," Klaus points out." www.digitMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOy.com/tv/ustv/review/a853159/a-series-of-unfortunate-events-season-2-netflix-review/

The Carnivorous Carnival episodes must have some very important new revelations if they're going to this length to keep the plot under wraps.

Either that, or they weren’t completely finished when they sent the screeners, remember last season, the show got completed two weeks prior to release

Every Netflix TV show has to be finished two weeks ahead of the air date, specifically because the episodes need to be sent to critics.
:Edit: They were able to send every episode of season one to critics on time, despite the fact that its post-production schedule was abruptly shortened by about a month and half.

"The Netflix series is at its best when it's examining something literary, be it an idiom or the misuse of a word. As always, it’s down to Warburton's Snicket to explain them in a deadpan manner – from “in the dark”, “on the lam”, “up in the air”, to “red herring” among others"
That's a quote from the Gadget360 review. The only reason I find it notable is because I think it means we get to hear Lemony's super long spiel about the phrase "in the dark" a season earlier than we're technically supposed to (since it's actually in the final book), which I'm super happy about because hearing Warburton deliver that monologue is one of the things I've been most excited about since the series was initially announced. I really hope it's still as hilariously long and monotonous and repetitive as it is in the book.

New YouTube review. He gave the series a 9.5/10. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D7lz1FMeIcI was actually chatting with him earlier and it's the same story - 8 episodes out of 10. Independent reviewers, fine, I get it. But I still don't understand a site like DigitMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOy not getting the full season. Will be interesting to see what big reviewers like Entertainment Weekly and The New York Times get - surely they will get all 10... right?!
