I was severely limited in what I could find as I live in a tiny village with no shops or library, and only two roads I've lived in small towns, big cities, and been neighbors with the Amish, but a town with only two roads is a new one. Yeah it really is tiny! More of a hamlet than a village, really. We have a post box, a phone box that no longer works, and a bus stop at which one bus a week stops.

Wow, and I thought it was wild that the bus only ran once to the city and once back where I used to live! I can never decide if I want to live in the middle of nowhere or in the city... I like not having people around, but I'm not a fan of cars. I haven't driven in at least two years and haven't owned a car for even longer. I can't imagine life without having my groceries delivered at this point. How do you get your groceries and stuff? Is there a larger town or city nearby? My wife told me that when they opened a Walmart a town over from her, everybody from the three local towns all gathered for a "sneak peak" where all they did was walk around looking at the store, not allowed to buy anything. It was the most exciting thing to happen around there in years. What is your policing like? You didn't mention having a police station, so I assume you don't have a local PD or other emergency services -- what would be the response time were anything to happen there?

Okay, I'm going to steer this back on topic. Quite quickly. Violent BUN Fortuna, Kit's tits kick ticks, I've taken what has been said into consideration, and reached a decision. We're about to move into the final stages of this process, and as such, I need to look not just at the circumstances of this task, but the competition as a wholeas I make my decision. Violent BUN Fortuna, you've contributed a lot to each each task, and you have often shown good ideas and creativity. Sometime you claim to have been held back by other peoples lack of organisation and communication, and yet the one time you've been project manager, your team still struggled. This makes my decisions very difficult. Kit's tits kick ticks, you've been on the losing team three times. Each time, you've said that you had better ideas about how to run things, but nobody listened to you. Well, in business, it's your job to make yourself be heard, not anybody elses. You did lead your team to victory in the last round, but I'm not sure if that's enough of a reason for you to continue in this process. So, it is with regret, that Kit's tits kick ticks, you're fired. Violent BUN Fortuna, I'll see you in the penultimate task.

It was the most exciting thing to happen around there in years. What is your policing like? You didn't mention having a police station, so I assume you don't have a local PD or other emergency services -- what would be the response time were anything to happen there? Yeah there are good and bad parts to both. I miss just being able to walk to restaurants and the cinema whenever I wanted to like I did while I was at university, but I love being surrounded by nature, seeing animals all the time on walks, and just being able to walk and explore in woods and fields and stuff. And I love how quiet it is, how dark the nights are, and how few people there are. For groceries we drive to a town about half an hour away from us (by car). There is another town a bit closer, but it's not so nice and doesn't have the shops we like. Umm yeah haha we never see police here. I think at one point we were meant to have a police officer come once a week just to show they care lol, but I think that fizzled out. I honestly have no idea what the response time would be ... the closest station would be I guess about 20 minutes away, maybe a bit more in bad traffiic. There was an ambulance in the village next to us today, which is about the second time I've ever seen one in either of our villages. Without cars we'd be very isolated but if you live in the countryside you really HAVE to have a car (which is a shame, I'd much prefer public transport/walking), so it doesn't feel especially cut-off or anything. But the Walmart story is definitely the sort of thing which I could see happening here, if a shop were ever to open! We had a teeny tiny beacon for the jubilee last month, it was hilariously small. The village celebration was to watch the beacon being lit, then walk to the next village to stand around while a couple of the oldest men spent 20 minutes trying and failing to light a small bonfire. But honestly I love the countryside so much; every day things change, and there's always something interesting to see.

Without cars we'd be very isolated but if you live in the countryside you really HAVE to have a car (which is a shame, I'd much prefer public transport/walking) I actually lived somewhere similar until recently, though not as small it sounds like (which is wild to me haha). also briefly lived in an area with good public transportation and the difference in lifestyle was vast. I live somewhere in between now and i'm not sure what i prefer. do you know all of your neighbors? I'll allow it for you sorry for the double post ??

(a long and detailed post) That sounds familiar and unfamiliar to me at the same time haha I have never lived somewhere without its own PD and FD, even the places I considered "podunk." You really can't beat the peace and quiet of living far away from it all (plus the beautiful scenery), but the reliance on vehicles is what kills me. I hate cars so much.

Did you get to know your neighbours when you lived in the similarly small/cut-off place? I'd probably know more of mine if they were closer to me in age, but most people around where I live are much older than me. I know a fair few, but only to say hello to, really.
