In ?1, Hangfire comes to the Lost Arms in a ski mask(questionable enough) and after Lost gives him Lemony's mail, he then directs Hangfire to the Far East Suite. Yeah, that is wrong. The bell had rung, so he was wearing a standard anti-salt lung mask. Lost gave him "Lemony's" mail, but the package wasn't addressed to Lemony, but to the Far East Suite. From Lost's point of view, the only way someone would know this package was sent was because they were the intended recipient. Finally, the fact that Hangfire knew of the package was enough for Lost to think, erroneously, that he already knew Lemony and Theodora were in the Far East Suite. What happened there was, paraphrased from Lost's own testimony, this: Hangfire: Hi, I'm looking for the package that was sent here last night. Lost: Ah, here you go. *Hangfire opens the package* Hangfire: What!? This isn't what should be in here! Lost: I suppose you should head up to the Far East Suite to complain, then. Your only other evidence is that Lost is frightened when he hears Hangfire's name, but that could mean anything. ?4 implies Hangfire started the fire that killed Alice Lost, that could be it.

For your first point: either he partially removed the mask so he could use his teeth, or he took off the mask in the hallway and put on a ski mask. Remember, the lobby of the Lost Arms is always somewhat crowded, with a person always on the phone. Unless Hangfire blackmailed the whole lobby, he'd need to be wearing something "normal".
For your second point: what's the point of a code name if you don't use it? Hangfire probably didn't leave a signed note at the fire, but he did commit other crimes with his alias. It's possible investigators linked them together.

The timeline is unclear as to when the fie happened, it could be the Mitchums or the Durhams or some in-between set of officers. And it seems silly to accuse me of using circumstantial evidence when you have provided two scenes, one of which only proves Prosper Lost had an unusual reaction to something at a time when it was very late and he was probably very tired. Him perking up when Lemony says Hangfire is interesting, but I have already provided a plausible alternative.
