So I've been digging through a bunch of my old drawings and discovered this collection from sometime in late 2005 or perhaps 2006 (it was definitely before The End came out), when I was 9 or 10 years old. They are quite hideous, but made me laugh, and it's gratifying to see how much I've improved in the past 18-19 years. As you can see, these are not at all derivative of Helquist's covers. Not at all. Stand off. My phone camera actually recognised Klaus's face as human in this, which is concerning. Love how all three Baudelaires are wearing bright red lipstick 24/7. Yikes. Honestly Chabo kind of slays. Violet and Quigley having a ~ moment ~. Shout out to Klaus's awkward leg disappearing off-screen ⬇️
Thus ends this post. Enjoy, or not.

"Grammatical Errors of the Late 19th Century" is a book title you should be proud of.

These are so fascinating! Almost like seeing an unpublished 667 post from that era. I appreciate you sharing these.

I have no idea why I chose the name Quentin Glory. It is a mystery lost to time.

Maybe I should incorporate Quentin Glory and Grammatical Errors of the Late 19th Century somewhere into 10 Years Later.

Ahaha ummm not really-- I've considered doing my own cover designs at some point, but I don't think they would bear much resemblance to these, partly because I tend to get bored drawing the exact same thing twice, even if it's years apart lol, and partly because a lot of these were very blatantly based on Brett Helquist's covers and these days I wouldn't do that.
But yeah, maybe one say I'll work on some cover designs!
