there are going to be Rare Editions for all the books? Becuase that'd be utterly ridiculous.

If the first sells enough, look for more.

Look at it like the Lord of the Rings DVDs...
TBB is a great book alone (as the theatrical cut DVD is great)
TBB CE goes a little bit deeper into what's going on, showing you things you did not see...just like the LOTR extended editions...they are not necessary to enjoy the stories, but some people enjoy them and buy both.

I apparently don't know you.
If they do, I'd cash out for VV and AA. Bit $15 for 10 books I already have, for one extra chapter? I'd plan a one-hour stay at Barnes and Nobel and read them for free, there.

yah definitely it would be best to have a whole book of editor's nots and such, but look at this idea : thirteen books thirteen chapters- he could make rare editions, with one chapter in each book, and then have 13 chapters of notes to put into a separate book.... but itd be too much of a dent on the wallets and moneyclips of american and otherwise children...
also, does anyone know if daniel handler is british? he fits the part so well...

I've thought about this, too! I want more so bad. I mean, I have no money, but I'd find a way. Plus, with each one, you would get a bonus picture frame/peice of art/other thing, the box, which is smashing, a new cover, and the Author's notes.

I'd probably buy all the rare editions. I'm a sucker for this series. I really want the leatherbound edition that came out in the UK. Be glad the rare edition is $15 in the US, btw, it's $29.95 here in Australia, and that exchange rate does NOT even out!
