The one that Amazon has is not quite like the one from Borders. It has cardboard movers, not pewter. The box would lay flat, not stand on a book shelf.
The game is basically you are either Count Olaf or one of the children. The children try to stay alive and keep the guardian alive before Mr. Poe gets back from the bank. Count Olaf tries to kill the guardian and send the children to their room.
Count Olaf can use Tragedy cards to speed up the guardian dying. The children can used Clever cards to stop Count Olaf.
It's not at all like Monopoly, or even like Clue like some have suggested. I think it is pretty original and creative. The cards are all written like the books and are amusing.

The Parlor Game I have seems to be some sort of limited edition; it has pewter movers. Olaf's Tragedy Cards are hilarious. One speaks of a dribble glass full of virally-tainted pineapple juice.
