Click here. The current Gothic Archies project is the theme music for Lemony Snicket¹s "Series of Unfortunate Events" books on tape (HarperAudio). Merritt has so far completed 10 theme songs out of an eventual 13. After the final Lemony Snicket audiobook is released, there will be a Gothic Archies CD release of all the collected Lemony Snicket theme songs. I think it's neat, because they're theme songs, and they're by my favorite artist. ;D

They are quite good yes. But not quite as good as "The New Despair".

I thought most people discovered them because of the audiobooks. I know I certainly did.

The Magnetic Fields had been around for at least five years before The Bad Beginning, and had already built a loyal following. I will agree that the audiobooks may have introduced a younger crowd to the work of Stephin Merritt if they cared enough to discover that The Gothic Archies and Magnetic Fields are related, and if they bothered to listen to the audiobooks in the first place. That's a small slice of a niche market, and in my opinion a very tiny percentage of the Magnetic Fields fan base.

It has the right to be posted so discussion can be brought up about it.

I know I'm just splitting hairs, but notice I said "at least five years", Technically I'm not incorrect, but neither are you. The point remains that they had a following before the Snicket books. Bad Beginning = 1999 First Magnetic Fields CD = 1991
