I never anticipated spoilers would show up this early but a relatively tiny one has so I've got to stop procrastinating and post these rules.
If you were here for The End you pretty much know how this goes but read it anyway to keep it fresh.
From now until SATURDAY JULY 21ST you can post no spoilers whatsoever. The one we just had barely counts so I'll let it slide. But if anyone gets the book early(as happened with Half Blood Prince and The End) and sees all the significant events that happen, sorry. I know you'll no doubt want to discuss what happened with others but until the rest of us have the book you can't. At least not on 667.
FROM SATURDAY JULY 21ST until SATURDAY AUGUST 4TH whenever you post anything that even faintly resembles a spoiler you must:
If you are posting a new thread about it, say nothing about the actual event or revelation, just use a vague title and put *SPOILER* or (SPOILER) or something.
Example:
LILY POTTER IS RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD
is a big NONO. Absolutely not.
LILY POTTER *Spoiler*
YES
Thereafter, anything posted WITHIN THAT THREAD need not have spoiler tags. If someone dies halfway through the book and you immediately go onto the board and go into the topic and spoil yourself that's your problem, don't do that.
(I'm actually open to modifying this rule if the populace so demands).
If you're posting a spoiler WITHIN A NON-SPOILER thread you must use a spoiler tag. Like:
I can't believe Karkaroff turned out to be alive!
IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT
I can't believe Karkaroff*SPOILER*
*reasonable space included so as not to accidentally spoil people*
turned out to be alive!
YES
If I forgot to include anything in these rules/you have a question or quibble about one of them, feel free to pm me.
BUT YOU MUST BEAR IN MIND even with these rules it's STILL possible that not everyone will follow them or that by some trick of fate even if the rules are followed you will somehow spoil yourself by clicking the wrong thread by accident or scrolling too fast past a spoiler tag, so if you choose to come into this board before you have finished the book IT IS AT YOUR OWN PERIL. You might even see a spoiler tag and somehow guess what actually happens and feel like you have been spoiled so again, EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION if you choose to come onto this board before finishing Deathly Hallows.
The best idea would actually be to just not come on this board at all until you finish. That's what I'm doing.
Fin.
