If you look in the Members section you'll see that perhaps 75% of our members have no posts whatsoever. Why is this? Did they all not get their passwords? Or did they just get bored with the board before posting? (It's hard to get bored with this place.) Discuss.

I have no idea. I couldn't see how they would register and not post right away.

A lot of people come to proboards boards and don't post, they just register.

We know. We're wondering why they do it.

Sorry, I made another thread on this not realizing you were going to do the same thing. Oh well, mine will sink quickly within the miscellaneous masses. I think it lies mostly within AOL, and lurkers. AOL doesn't give you your password most of the time, I've noticed that oftentimes they are more than one username that is really similar (hermionegranger, HermioneGranger, hermygranger, hermalicious6000) that have the same email address, obviously because it didn't send them their password the first time. Another theory is that they saw, "guests please register, your membership is a valuable gift" and just register, not really knowing how messageboards work, just thinking Hey, it's ASOUE, cool!. When I registered last year in May, I had no idea how messageboards worked, and just posted once with a plea for help: Hey please help me tell me how to post please email me at blahblahblah. Klaus later posted and told me how, but I was expecting an email and didn't go back until October, when I registered on this username and attempted to figure things out on my own. Anyway, that's my story...I think that's the majority of Non-Poster Accounts. The others either didn't like it (hahahahhaha!) or just wanted to lurk (possible!).

That's a good explanation. Another possible one is that people think you need to register to read the forums--that's true on some boards. So they register and all they do is lurk, never getting interested enough to post. And then there are the members who register, post just a few times, and are gone the next day. Some of those are good members, and some are annoying.

Those people possibly forget to bookmark the forums or something.
You can read/post on the Sardonic Series category if you are a guest, I think. Not sure, though.

Oh Count Joebob, he came on (to me), stole my heart and then left without a second glance. I still miss him.

I think that if someone's going to register and not post at all, they may aswell just not register and save their time and our space...
(Hey, that sounded clever! Go me...)

Those people possibly forget to bookmark the forums or something. I was thinking that. Lots of members I know forget about their accounts (I think Colton was one).

Hm.
It is a mystery, though. We should see if most of them have AOL email addresses.
