I believe I may have solved the code in TIHOSO. TWO SETS OF FRIENDS JUST OUT OF REACH WILL MEET AGAIN ON BRINY BEACH OMG GUYS!!!! I decoded the code myself..... AND THERE IS A WORD THAT CHANGES FROM THE ONE GOTHICARCHIESFAN DECODED!! And it gives another reading.... AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. THEY DID THIS.... SO WE DECODED IT TOGETHER... LIKE THE QUAGMIRES AND BAUDELAIRES CLICKING THEIR SPYGLASS PARTS :’) You're completely right, I wasn't able to find one of the words at the time so I had to guess ("Once" should have been "Just").

Because of how vague some of the wording is, I'm personally getting the impression that it might not be as straightforward as it appears.
And even if it is exactly what it appears, I certainly don't think it will ruin season 3, as the information it reveals doesn't actually answer much and leads to many more questions.

I assume the portrait in the Queequeg is of Widdershins then. Most likely, as in TIHOSO, there's another image of Barry Sonnenfeld as Captain Widdershins with a young Fiona and Fernald.

Eh, I'm not too bothered by Captain Widdershins being cut out of the story. If we're being totally honest it's not like his storyline actually went anywhere in the books, he's only ever around for less than half of TGG and then he literally never appears again.
Given the amount of story the show has to wrap up, it makes sense to cut out elements from the books in order to not make the story's more important elements feel rushed. Especially since Daniel Handler himself never brought Widdershins back in TPP or TE.
His only real impact on the overall story anyway, is that he introduces the children to Fiona, and then disappears mysteriously. Which according to the Fiona audition tapes, he still does, it just occurs before TGG episodes.

Guys, TIHOSO has so much new content for season 3, it's nuts. Some quick things I noticed after a speed read: The Gregorian Grotto now contains a "sinister" lab. They confirm that they have combined Captain Widdershins and Fiona into one character. The End WILL contain content from the Beatrice Letters and still ends with "The Great Unknown". They hint that Fernald was working under Gregor Anwhistle on a secretive project. TPP will have flashbacks to 'that' night at the opera and Olaf, Esmé and were there [amonsgt others]. The End is apparently a "very quiet, character-driven piece that meditates on the themes of the story" and like a "dreamy hallucination". It will also be very "stripped of comedy". Because the Dewey Decimal System is a protected trademark, the Netflix adaptation of TPP has to use "library catalogue" instead.

Look Away Lyrics Season 3:
The Slippery Slope The Baudelaires are trapped in mountains covered up in snow. More villains have arrived and there is no place they can go. It’s a horrid way to start up this, our third and final season. Anyone still watching it has clearly lost all reason.
The Grim Grotto The Baudelaires are deep below the surface of the sea. Hoping to avoid Count Olaf’s horrid company. But of course, he finds them and of course, it’s very awful. This show’s so grim it really ought to be unlawful.
The Penultimate Peril The Baudelaires check into a hotel to spy upon, A group of awful people for whom murder is a yawn. It may seem like Count Olaf will be finally brought to justice. But why would any viewers think that they could really trust us?
The End The Baudelaires, adrift at sea, wash up far off the map. Olaf’s right behind them with a fungus and a trap. Our story ends in tragedy upon a coastal shelf. I beg of you, I beg of you, stop watching, save yourself.

Eek!! These are so cool! Especially the opera photos! I’m just wondering why Olaf needs a disguise in the penultimate peril?? He’s been declared dead so.. We know for sure that he, Esmé, Carmelita, and Fernald are going to disguise themselves at some point during one of the TGG episodes when they visit a submarine rental. So maybe he just decides to put it back on when he, Esmé, and Carmelita check into the hotel in order to evade potential V.F.D. detection?

The lobby of the Hotel Denouement. I always imagined it bigger. But this is crazy feels like a dream. It will probably appear bigger on screen as the upper floors will likely be added via CGI in post-production.

I suppose showing Beatrice on the cover would be too much of a spoiler. (Have we seen any pictures of Kit looking pregnant yet? Though again, spoiler.) There was an image from the leaked pictures of the commemorative book Barry Sonnenfeld gave to the cast/crew which featured one. (Top Left)

It's also interesting how dark-skinned Ishmael looks, considering he's played by Peter Macnicol. I'm assuming he's just very tanned... That and the fact that it's a zoomed in, low-quality picture of a picture, which has undoubtedly messed up the original image's gamma correction and contrast at least a little bit.
