Yeah, I more of pay attention to the lyrics, depth of the music (not "wow...that's deep..." but how it's arranged and stuff) and if the artist wrote their own. Bands are the best.

I think the thing with artists is that they do their thing, and then the media labels them. Sometimes the media has to make up a new genere just to label the artists. Yucky. Oh, and I forgot to add Aaron Carter to my list back in post page one. Stupid Aaron Carter.........

I was reading a review for an album, and it was talking about how dozens of people couldn't figure out what genre it was. Is it emo? No, too much pointless screaming. How about screamo? Sure.. Then the reviewer went on saying he didn't want to see the band fall to the wayside for lack of classification so he called his friend. His friend immediately said the band should be labeled as "sh*t".

EXACTLY. As with most things, "imperfection brings perfection". Like...Stephin Merrit. His voice is really deep and gets on some people's nerves (like my mother's), but the Magnetic Fields wouldn't have half of their appeal without it. (Yesh, I had to throw an MF plug in...) "I don't think you have a very good voice." "The better a singer's voice is, the harder it is to believe what they're saying. I use my faults to my advantage." An interview with David Byrne...

Yeah!! I agree!! Music nowadays is mainly a loada crap. I mean, people only became singers to get money (well, that is ok really) but they are judged on what they look like more than anything, not their voices!! Music nowadays is about Sex and not music. How........disappointing

If you dig deep enough you can find superlative music, and sometimes you don't even have to dig deep.
Music nowadays is about Sex and not music.
Thats not true.

"I don't think you have a very good voice." "The better a singer's voice is, the harder it is to believe what they're saying. I use my faults to my advantage." An interview with David Byrne... I think his voice is just fine. Now, Wayne Coyne's voice, on th other hand, is horrible, terrible, and disgusting. But I LOVE IT.

Music is about image and selling records nowadays, but mainly in the music aimed at teenagers. Music aimed for a more adult audience(And I don't mean like porn"Adult Audiences") is way better, has more meaning, and is what good music should be.

not necesarrily... some music aimed at "adult audiences", like easy listening, and other "soft", watered-down type stuff, is CRAP.

What would happen if MTV and VH1 disappeared from the face of the Earth?

What would happen if MTV and VH1 disappeared from the face of the Earth?
Hum. Most of my classmates would go into a deep depression and quit listening to music because they didn't know what they are supposed to listen to? *shrugs* I don't know.
