Nowdays, alot of people in the music industry cant really sing very well... To put it bluntley, they are rubbish! But do you think that people who sing for a living should be able to sing well or do you think its just about image??

That's how it SHOULD be, most definitely. But that's not gonna happen anytime soon because the record industry just LOVES churning out one talentless magikarp or man-monkey after another, and, sadly, people are stupid enough to buy into it.
When I get a band together, I can say with integrity that even though I know the chances of even getting offered a major label contract are slim to none, I would turn it down. I would want to be with an independent label that is not affiliated with those parasitic bastards at the RIAA.

Not all boys, most boys... The ones that have nothing else to do than drool on pictures of pop stars. Our parents were fortunate they grew up in a time when you didn't have to posses good looks to become succesful in the music buisness.

And for 15 cents, you could bye pop corn, a drink, a ticket, and a little bag of candy at the movies, and probably still have change.

It's true though. Image is pretty much every thing in the music industry today. You have your talented artists. but when Britney appears it's "Bye Bye Bye!" to them. (Excuse the joke. ) Look at Avril(ugh!). She was labled "New, Fresh, and full of spunk." by th emedia for wearing stuff kids wear all the time. But, just because she looks "cool" we shove her terrible songs, with their crappy music, and absolutly idiotic lyrics,(I'm Real! Blah blah blah, skater boi! Heehee! Lookie, I'm skating! Buy my records! Whoohoo! I'm a ****ing punk!) and focus on her. Not the music.

This is how it should be-
most important: talent not quite as important: attitude not important: image
unfortunately, these days its the other way around.

Oh, she can act alright. She is acting htat she is acting. She is such a fake! Her show's cast is really good, but she just doesn't act good enough. And she can't sing at all.

Although, the winner of pop idol 2003 was thes women called Michelle and she wasn't skinny and pretty like people like Britney Spears and all the other shallow pop stars.
I personally do like singers who are good looking but thats just me, but they do need to be able to sing.
Black Eyed Peas were number 1 in England for 6 weeks with their hit single " where is the love" but shocked everyone when they went on top of the pops to sing live and were frankley, absolutley terible.
Thankyou for reading! Merry Christmas! Luv Phoebe

i think too much emphasis is put on how "good" their voice is. If Robert Plant auditioned for American Idol (Curse it) he would be laughed out of the auditorium. THe thing that makes so many bands interesting is that the voice is off, or very very unusual. I'm more of a band person than a singer person anyway. Why would you play in a band that is never recognized as anything other than the Spice Girl's band. ick. play an instrument.

The thing that makes so many bands interesting is that the voice is off, or very very unusual. EXACTLY. As with most things, "imperfection brings perfection". Like...Stephin Merrit. His voice is really deep and gets on some people's nerves (like my mother's), but the Magnetic Fields wouldn't have half of their appeal without it. (Yesh, I had to throw an MF plug in...)
