What do you guys think of inter-faith marriages? I think that restricting your spouse options because of religion doesn't make too much sense. And offspring can become religious, despite what you may think. I have proof, even - my rabbi's father (or mother, can't remember which) is Catholic.

I don't think it's a good idea. I know of multiple people in my church who didn't 'restrict their spouse's option because of religion,' and now they're miserable. It's not even really anything to do with how the kids are raised, it's that they disagree with so much because they have different beliefs, that they really don't get along that well.

I can see your point. But here's an interesting perspective, and this is probably where we split - what do you believe to be more important, spiritual belief, or love? I don't even mean religion, just spiritual belief.

Well, interesting you brought that up---I have no problem, I put such a small value on religion. If I meet a guy that's nice, funny, smart, well-read etc, and he likes me and doesn't carry about my religion, but he's a different religion I won't turn him down. (But I will never be faced with that situation). But, however, I told my mum I'd have no problem marrying a non-Jew, right after I admitted I was Agnostic on er...Thursday, and she's still not talking to me. ASAMOF, I would marry someone with no belief than someone with one.

That's a shame. She should respect your belief. I'm Jewish too - are you conservative? I'm reformed. I couldn't care less if my wife was a Satanist as long as she wouldn't scare away the neighbors.

I think people should get tested for mental illnesses before being introduced to religion...

Or at least a religion that makes them do that!

All religions are capable of having followers misinterpret its teachings.

Very true. You know, I'm gonna start another post about the DaVinci Code. It provides a very interesting aspect on Christianity.

Yeah. It's a little mature, but not terrible. It's very good.

If a person is truely devout, there shouldn't be such a conflict because of differing belifes. Don't we all worship the same ideal, if not the same god? Peace and love, isn't that the message religion is supposed to bring? Charity is love, a lenient judgement of others. 1st Corinthians Ch. 13 v 1-8 Though I speak with the tounges of men and angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge and though I have all faith, so I could move mountains and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it profits me nothing. Charity suffers long and is kind: charity envies not, charity doesn't vaunt itself, isn't puffed up, doesn't behave itself unseemingly, seeks not its' own, isn't easily provoked, thinks no evil, rejoices not in iniquity but rejoices in truth; bears all things, belives all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Charity never fails, but whether there be prophecies they shall fail, whether there be tounges they shall fail, whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. v 13 And now abideth faith hope and charity, these three, but the greatest is charity.
If a person is so convinced that thier faith is correct, then live by the rules that faith has laid down.

Everyone hold this girl up on a pedastal and follow her example. This is the way it should be done.
