Okay. I have a dance tonight. I don't want to go, and I can't back out of it now. I have to go (read my livejournal for more information). The area that I need help on? Um... What would you do if you don't know anyone, you're a geek, and you can't dance?  |

Ok, suicide is the first thing that comes to my mind, but I don't think it's a good idea.
All you can do, if you are forced to go, is just that: go and try to have a good time, you can do stupid/silly things because nobody knows you so it doesn't matter.

well the best I can think of is go to the dance, and stand near some people who know how to dance and just copy them (its probrably better if you hang around and group of boys and girls)

chill w/ur friends. if u see a girl ask her to dance w/ you (if ur that bad at dancing i suggest a slow song cos there isn't really anything to know about slow dancing) and if you're really terrible at dancing hang by the snack area the whole time!! lol!

problem #1: You don't know anyone:
Find some people who look like the kind of people you'd hang out with, and hang out with them... Just find a few people who look about as lost as you do, and introduce yourself.
problem #2: You're a geek:
There's nothing you can really do about this one, because it's who you are... therefore it shouldn't be a problem. Just be funny and sociable and you'll be fine.
problem #3: You can't dance:
Dance when other people are dancing. Like... if there's a group of people doing the macarena or something, just join in. People won't single you out. Also, if you dance sort of relaxedly, and don't do anything crazy, it's probably better. Like... don't start breaking or something if you can't break, but move with the music and don't be too awkard.
You should be fine. Just have fun.

Ok, I had a similar problem last year...I have pretty much no coordination when it comes to dancing, I am somewhat a geek (and proud of it)... Anyway, I just hung out with a group of my friends, made fun of the other people's dancing, ate some pizza, made more fun of other people, and I joined in some goofy group dance thing. Oh yeah, and we tried to get this guy friend of ours to dance with one of the girls in our group, but he wouldn't... Just go and party for a bit. Dances are really not for dancing.  |

at the dances where i live we pay the $5 when we get there... your dances sound weird. i bet that if none of your friends are there there will be kids that aren't your friends but you are friendly with!! don't worry about it. and as i said in another thread, if you meet a girl that you like, grab her butt!! lol!! jk! shell get really grossed out and youll rpobably get in trouble. lol!

i hang out in the snack bar when i dont have anyone to dance with during the slow songs. lol. ;D my friends and i dance together sometimes lol. but usually we just dance with a guy. its really annoying when guys have a messenger to ask you to dance so if you wanna dance with a girl ask her yourself!
