Could you post his reply? I find it hard to believe you if there isn't any hard evidence.

His reply to what? Do you mean the automatic reply he gives to all his fans that write him? If so, the message is, "your teacher is working for Count Olaf."

It's said that if you e-mail Lemony he'll send you this automatic reply containing a Sebald code message, which is "Your teacher is working for Olaf" I heard of this at another board, and it made a lot of people paranoid. I'm paranoid enough of my teachers without this little reminder.

I find it interesting that, once asked to verify that Lemony replied, the starter of this topic deleted their first post...

Perhaps Mr. or Ms. Topic Starter really didn't get a reply, but was just sharing rumors. I've never e-mailed Lemony. Maybe I should, but what could I say to him? Maybe ask some generic fan-type questions.

I find that quite interesting also. I have emailed Lemony at the site address, and this is the standard reply. Dear Reader,
Although it would be far too dangerous to do so in person, Mr. Snicket would like to congratulate you for your bravery in contacting him concerning his work on the Baudelaire case. Even a simple e-mail can attract the attention of one's enemies, and it shows remarkable courage to volunteer yourself as a Snicket supporter. In fact, just thinking about your bravery makes my ears ring.
YOUR interest in the Baudelaire case, whether brought about by your TEACHER, parents or friends, is likely to cause you malaise, which IS a fancy word meaning "sadness, often caused by a book." WORKING on your homework, or making homes out of popsicle sticks FOR small birds to nest in, rather than reading about Count OLAF, would be a much better way to spend your time. Ring! Oh, that's the telephone. I must stop writing this coded e-mail.
With all due respect,
Daniel Handler official representative of Lemony Snicket

dangit. I thought this was a thread for the letter in the meredith replied thread. Interesting that an automatic sebald code message gets sent. I bet one of my teachers is working for Count Olaf. It's probably my language teacher because she discourages talking and my friend and I often talk about asoue in class..

www.lemonysnicket.com/author.htmlThat should tell you all you need to know. Or, if you are too lazy to read that link, send an email to lsnicket@harpercollins.com. You should get an auto reply withing minutes. General warning: They are nearly always the same. If they aren't, go to Alarming Anouncements. I think Trag is still collecting them.
