This is just really a far-fetched theory, but in TSS when Sunny is talking back to Count Olaf with her "infant" talk, Sunny says "Busheney" which is defined by Snicket as- "an evil man with no concern whatsoever for other people." Busheney sounds a lot like Bush-Cheney and that description is what someone who's not a Republican, so is Snicket a Democrat or is it just  ? |

Snicket is a Democrat and that's good in my humble opinion. I believe that Daniel Handler identified himself as liberal at some point, and the "Busheney" thing just verifies that. It's pretty funny.

Tocuna, wouldn't it be awesome if he did? Or said something about Gay Marriage... (which, by the way, is something that should be between a man and a woman, according to our dear Governator). But what could he write about that? '"Homosexualshaverightstoo!" Sunny said, which is a word that here means that marriage should be based on love, not gender.'? I mean... Guh. That was so un-witty. I look forward to it if he does it well, though.
But then again, I'd like people to keep reading his books regardless of politics, so maybe he should refrain from too much ENDOCTRINATION OF CHILDREN!!! I mean... just, you know, the parents might stop kids reading his books if the politics got to be too much.

Those would be hard to work in unless Snicket was being really subtle about it. It's unlikely that Bush even reads those books, but that scenario's not impossible. If he banned them, people would stock up on the books and read them in secret, even as President Shrubbery set huge piles of Snicket books on fire....That would give me one more reason not to like Bushy. And I have plenty already. |
