I think that Esme is somehow related to the Quagmires.Distantly,of course.Like,maybe a sixty-sixth cousin 7 times removed.Or, something. Anywho,I think this because: 1.Why else would she be placed in charge of the Quagmire estate? 2.Her name was smudged in the program. 3.I forgot my other two reasons.  |

She's a financial advisor, so that rules out the reason why she's looking after their estate. Because of her job.

Just like the Baudelaires had met Mr. Poe, it's possible that the Quagmires were aquainted with Esmé before their fire.

Exactly. I mean... if she really wanted control of the Quagmire fortune she could have just sucked up to the parents a lot (I'm sure she knew them). But her name being smudged in the program is some good theoretical stuff no one's really put to use much as far as I've seen. I guess it doesn't really point one way, though. I mean... her last name could be anything. |

None of the (definitely known for sure...not including Justice Strauss, Mr Poe, etc) members of VFD seem to do anything except attend dinner parties and plays and things pertaining to VFD. Where did they all get their fortunes from? Do you think the money came from VFD, or are they in VFD because they have so much money?
I don't think Esme is related to the Quagmires, but it does seem like her relationship to them is a bit like Mr Poe's to the Baudelaires.

The Quagmires got their money from sapphires. No mention how the Baudelaires were so wealthy. Esme's last name must be important or it wouldn't be smudged in the program. Let's figure out who she can't be first.
She can't be-
The children's mother (obvious reasons)
The triplets mother (She wouldn't be in charge of their estate)
The third sibling of the Powder Faced Women (the other sibling is dead dead dead)
Beatrice (duh)
I don't know if that narrows it down any...

Maybe when the PFW say that one of their siblings died in a fire, they mean that this sibling died to them, such as Esme were to make a fire and keep doing it, which the PFW didn't like, so they pretended she wasn't their sister, making her dead to them. Tho that doesn't make much sense, it's what I thought at first.
