I interned at a production company last semester and all I did was read scripts. A Series of Unforunate Events was one of them. The script primarily focuses on the first and third books. The first half of the movie is the first book, the second half of the movie is the third book. There's a little puppet show -seriously- with the characters as puppets acting out the major parts of the 2nd book. That part is no more than 2 minutes longer.
I don't really know if fans are going to like that, but the script otherwise is awesome. If they make it exactly how it's written, it'll be a great movie. The script is very imaginative (like the books) and witty. I laughed out loud several times while reading it. It has the same type of dry humor that the books have. I read other posts from people that they don't think Jim Carrey will be a good Count Orlaf, but I read the script with him in mind and I really think he'll be great for the part. I'll definitely be seeing the movie even if does have some flaws.
