From the Desk of Isadora Quagmire Day 1 Every day is just like the other But I still miss Violet's brother I really do miss Klaus. I haven't seen him in...I think 3 weeks? The food supply's running low. I hope we live. I hope I live; I have more chance of dying...cause of Duncan. He won't leave me alone. "Oh Isadora, what have you seen lately?" He wants to write an article and drop it from the sky and hope someone catches it. I don't know what I've seen. I haven't seen him in a while. Maybe he's got something. Anyway, Hector made the last supply of enchiladas. I'm kind of glad of that; not of the food supply running down, but no more enchiladas! I need to get inside, there are clouds ahead. More later, diary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

From the Desk Scribbed Notes of Isadora Quagmire Day 1 1/2 I think I can have a desk, more like I hope But for now it's just a bunch of scribbled notesI wish I could say I had a desk. More like a straw rickety table. I wrote a note to Klaus yesterday. I don't know how I'll send it. I guess I just like imagining. I'll tape it in here. Dearest Klaus, I miss Violet and Sunny already, but especially I miss you. I don't know how I will send this to you, but I hope I can give this to you in person, if we ever come down, that is.
How are you? I'm OK. I think I've lost Duncan. All he does these days is just walk in and out of rooms, his eyes wider than usual, muttering words that mostly sound like "Violet" and pulling his hand through his unbrushed hair. He gets thinner by the day.
Hector is trying to keep his head too. He now giggles whenever I mention Mexican food. This morning I saw him with one leg over the basket of this balloon.
AM I THE ONLY SANE PERSON HERE?!!!!!
I wish I could see the three of you. And I hope the two horrendous criminals (Olaf and Esme) rot in Hell. (Hey, I'm a poet. I have strong feelings.)
Tell Violet and Sunny I say hi. Oh tell Violet that Duncan misses her madly.
Love you , Izzydor QuagmireI stayed up all night sitting on my bed. Thank God Duncan doesn't snore. Unlike my cabinmate Matt when I was forced to sleep in the boys' bunks during sleepaway camp. DON'T ASK. I must nap, diary. See you after my 39 1/2 winks.

Day 4 Falling, falling, falling down Hector doesn't even frown "Guardian" he claims to be But anyone can see He doesn't care a lick About us or if we slip Still sick. I don't have the time to write from the Desk of Izzy... We're near landing now. I get worried if Hector made this thing right. I mean, I know Violet helped, and Violet is an even better inventor than Hector...but...ugh...paranoia. Anyway, the Baudelaires must be near. I can see the tip of the Mortmain Mountains. I know they must have gone up there. Every time I try to mention to Hector that we're falling, he goes into the kitchen and cooks up his best dinner. I think he knows, but he doesn't want to know. I'm feeling a bit better, I think Duncan is too. He's been vomiting. I think some people in New Zealand will feel a ham sandwich sometime soon. A little humour. Goodnight, dear "diary". I think by morning, we'll have reached the mountains.

Day 5
When I woke up this morning I saw snow everywhere: Outside, Inside the Hot air--INSIDE! Why were we on the ground! I bolted up from bed and shook Duncan until he woke up. SNOW!

From the Desk Scribbled Notes of Isadora Quagmire Day 5 1/3 It has been very grand Since we have reached land It has indeed been grand. I haven't seen snow in--I can't remember how long. But then it's always snowing here in the Mortmains. I know the Baudelaires must be here. Or near here. I can feel it. If only I could see Klaus! Er...and Violet, and Sunny.

Hector seems to have disappeared But I feel the Bauds are near
I know they're near. Duncan and I grabbed a few coats, while Hector stayed in the HAB. We looked around, and Duncan spotted some green smoke. That proves that VFD must be around. He suggested we head for the Stricken Stream. No one was there, but there was a toboggan, so someone must have been there. I say it was the Baudelaires, but Duncan disagrees. There were three people, but one of them went one way, the other two went the other way. I said there were four, one of them being Sunny, and the three Baudelaires went one way, and whoever they were with went another way. Duncan wrote all this down, we're hot on their trail. It's much easier than I imagined, not like in the books. They just left footprints. But what if we're wrong? What if it's not the Baudelaires at all? What if it's Olaf and Esme? There are two sets of footprints after all.
