(sorry if I mess up the names and students in the class, but w/e)
Violet and Duncan had to take notes in Mrs. Bass's class.
Klaus and Isadora had to observe how wide, deep and long objects were.
VFD members are taken because they show exceptional note taking/observational skills. I know the measuring thing is weak, because it's not really observing, but..perhaps the Bauds and Quags were doing phase 1 of some sort of VFD preperation at PP. I think they are being trained by various VFD members in each book. Hector didn't rescue them from jail because he wanted it to do it on their own, as a VFD test. He is a member, right?
