None of the quotes say "swooped down like a bat." I think that you're thinking of the Beatrice dedication to TMM. Yes, that was what I was thinking of, and I think it could relate to the "swooping out of the sky" quote. Snow gnats could be said to swoop, especially if their swarm took the shape of a bird or bat. |

I like the Snow Gnats theory. Whatever came swooping out of the sky, it probably happened the same time that that woman protected herself with a cape and motorcyle helmet and left Lemony unprotected. Perhaps this was the VFD hike (with Jerome?...) that Widdershins couldn't attend.
