As i was looking on the boards a minute ago(im soo bored that i've searched almost every single thread so far lol) i noticed a thread that asked what people thought was the most boring book of the series so far. The answers that appeared the most were: TMM and TAA. Now i really enjoyed the TMM.... thats my opinion but......... TAA was pretty much the first revolution for this series.... i mean.... the Quagmires were discovered in this book, this book was hillarious: Carmelitta Spats , Vice Principal Nero! If you thought this book was bad please don't post then... i don't want to get into an internet argument(very childish). But i'm just saying that i do not get how people found this book that boring .... plz post your expressions!

I think readers might have forgoten about the "good" side of this book. In it we had marvelous characters like the Quagmires and a great deal secrets were reveled. Allso in it we first learned about the VFD. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I think the reason people find it the most boring is because when it gets to TMM and TAA, the whole story structure is starting to get a bit repititive.
I like it, but it was probably my least favourites.

I didn't think TAA was that bad, with regards to the formulaic nature of the early books. Schools are different enough to foster homes to satisfy me, and it had some decent new characters to add to the plot. Oh. I only just noticed that we technically already have a thread for this. But that one's pretty old, and the threads both above it and below it are locked, so I'll lock it and this can be the new TAA discussion thread. The title has capital letters on this one, anyway.

I totally disagree on that . It's not in my top 3 but it's probably the most interesting of the first five i would have to say. The book I hated the most of the first five would have to be TBB.... It was just plain and simply boring to me. TRR was good ... and the TMM was the most exciting and gory really. Phill almost get cut into pieces was a different approach from L.S. but a good at that. TWW was decent in my opinion . TAA was a great idea for the series... I have to admit it was a BIT dull in some parts but it also shined light on the whole series with the V.F.D. , Quagmires , and the book had some pretty funny parts aswell. So peace out cakesniffers (lol J/J)

When I read the series for the first time, it went down as one of my favourites. Not so much anymore, but I still think it's good, but not the best of the series.
I didn't really think it was boring. I was really intrigued by the relationship the Quagmires had with the Baudelaires, and the fact that I found the whole book to be slightly more relatable than the others because they were going to school.
And the ending was satisfactory, I thought.

I guess I'm the only one, but TAA was my favorite of the series! Not especially because of the Quagmires, but because of the outrageous ridiculous-ness of the setting and situations. Come on, who didn't love the Orphan's Shack? Tiny snapping crabs, horridly painted walls, dripping fungus, and no furniture except for a bale of straw . . . Vice-Principal Nero's sarcastic imitations and noisy violin concerts, S.O.R.E. and flour-bag Sunny (not to mention Sunny as Administrative Assistant and crab-chasing tap dancer), silly teachers with sillier tests, and crazy rules with crazier punishments. . . unique and brilliant! TAA was definitely the most fun to read and visualize.

I hated The Miserable Mill because of the drab setting but I liked the Austere Academy. Double your orphans/ double your fun. I loved Isadora and Duncan and the whole swap that led to the Quamires being kidnapped. I love how helping people gets you dead, endangered or on the run in ASoUE. It is the opposite of the usual sugary morals you expect in a kid's book.
The Quagmires are kidnapped because they help the Baudelaires and the Baudelaires become fugitives in The Vile Village because they try to right the injustice of Jacques being murdered by Olaf.
Edited to add: Nero is so mean and funny. Edited again to add: -elaires

The Quagmires are kidnapped because they help the Bauds and the Baudelaires become fugitives in The Vile Village because they try to right the injustice of Jacques being murdered by Olaf. What's the difference between a Baud and A Baudelaire? About two syllables.
