rap is just terrible, annoying, repetitive, and...yeah. the only rap i like is french rap, because it's hilarious and i can't understand it anyway.
"50 cent is something else tho... look up the lyrics to G-Unit someday.." i'm reminded of sitting in mike's car!...lmfao, g-unit is terrible.

Rap...I detest rap.
It's basically the aforementioned monotony and subject matter. I mean, I can't decern one rap song from the other. Sometimes they do have an interesting back beat, but I really don't like the sound of rapping anymore than when women sing non-words and coo and screech...yeah...
I do agree with Theif/Lauren2 that it's not just Rap that has this problem, though. To me, a lot of heavy metal-esqe bands, for instance, sound exactly the same to me. *Shrugs*
Out of curiousity, what genre of music do you generally like, J?

Yeah, I find people like Dido, Steriophonics and Lostprophets(I dispise all of these bands), tend to do the same pretty much boring stuff. *Shrugs*

so what are all you geniuses going to do about it? i mean, most of the white and blck population likes it, like 85%, or something like that. some rap is bad, but others are okay. we're not going to do anything about it. if you think about it, mostly teenagers like rap, correct? that's because most teens dont appreciate music. they just sit on their nice fancy coaches all day and watch MTV and a video comes for a rap song- they're going to think it's a good song because it's on MTV. then they go to their friends and are going to say, "dude, did you hear that new song on MTV [insert song title here]".. and then they check it out, because their friend told them it was good (when in reality, it sucked horribly)... and it goes in a big cycle like that, everyone telling each other that the song is good because they have to let MTV think for them, instead of thinking for themselves and deciding what sucks and what doesnt. it's more about impressing their friends. basicly, mtv is just a stupid trendsetting channel who has more reality television shows and other things than music shows.

the kids can't even "Sing" their latest favorite song--they click their tongues. Rap is not music, rapping is not singing.

Rap isn't music--as said before, it's a guy speaking, dully, unintelligibly and monotonously, with lyrics that rip apart the last shreds of society's moral fabric, while a drum beats behind him, and women make sounds that you'd hear during sex.
