Reminds me of that one Lawrence Block short story (<3 Lawrence Block) where this girl was held for ransom, and she cooperated with the kidnappers until the very end, where she shot them both and took the money her father left for them.

That's so sad. I wonder what made her think she needed to fake kidnapping for attention. That story sounds interesting Luna.

I vaguely knew that girl. I live in the next town from Rockford, where she's from, and she was friends with someone I knew. Everyone wants attention, but my goodness, that's going too far to fake your own kidnapping. An actress in the 50s faked her own kidnapping and people believe she got the idea from a novel called "The Fuzzy Pink Nighgown". (I forgot the author of that book). Tonya Harding supposedly faked her own kidnapping as well. If you want attention steak down a busy street, but why put friends and family through hell?
