new james blake got me all hot 'n' bothered. his old delicate sound (hot) blended with outrageously uptempo trap stuff (bothered). but also, it's sexy and beautiful. love to hear an uber-serious atmospheric james blake track with travis scott crooning "ass fatter than a peach" on it

saw them live two years ago; great act. i don't know why I haven't checked out their second album, only know the first one. I've listened to "masterpiece", especially, many times.

"masterpiece" is a bit too much on the guitar, unstructured side, for me. "capacity" brings out some excellent hooks and lyrics.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy's I See a Darkness album (favorite tracks: 2, 3, 7, 10)
Very good songwriter, though a whole album can get a bit monotone at some points (before he grabs your attention with a really cool melody again). I'm enjoying it a bit more on second listen than the first time, though. Also really like his "Joya" album (as Will Oldham). "I am Still What I Meant to Be", f.ex., has great lyrics.
EDIT: Re: Sleigh Bells, I prefer "Rill Rill" of theirs. Instant summer vibes

The Fall are so frickin' great. Also re-discovered this gem recently. Kind of like a Gothic Archies song but in a non-whimsical, demented way. Can recommend them to any Stephin Merritt-fan who doesn't mind obscure lyrics when they're still playfully witty like Mark E. Smith's. Best intro albums to The Fall: Grotesque (After the Gramme) // Perverted by Language // This Nation's Saving Grace

i guess it's his most N.E.R.D. album yet, and also his 808s & heartbreak... just a genuinely peculiar pop album, with godawful singing and a totally tasteless hodgepodge of electronic production...

underwhelmed by the new injury reserve. the beats havent gotten better, theyre great now but they were just as good 4 years ago... whereas the raps have suffered. they used to have a lot more bars and a lot more personality
i love the new big thief
