"Jim Carrey seems like such an obvious choice; it's hard to imagine that it's going to go wrong," he said. "(He) seems like an inspired choice to run wild with the character. That, to me, seems like a surefire box office hit - maybe a critical hit as well." www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/entertainment/9536406.htmHere was a critic with other opinions (he didn't even spell OLAF right ) If one popular series of children's books makes a successful film series, why not try another? That is the idea behind LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. Jim Carrey plays Count Orloff and several other roles in makeups that make him unrecognizable. If they were serious about making this a series they would make it a Lemony Snicket movie and not a Jim Carrey movie. It looks like a nicely crafted comedy with little series potential. www.computercrowsnest.com/sfnews2/04_sept/news0904_4.shtml

Roeper is the only one that matters. If that second guy cant even spell Olaf correctly (he magled it like a butcher on field day), hes not worth listening to.

Yes, Roeper is a national reconized critic. I wonder what Ebert has to say.

Ha ha, Orloff. Well, to be fair, when Olaf pronounces his name ("I am your beloved Count Olaaaffff"), it does sound a bit like "Orloff". But I'm glad that Roper is looking forward to this. Maybe he and Ebert will have a nice lively debate on the film.

[...]. Jim Carrey plays Count Orloff [....] Haha! Sounda like that one macro program called "Vorlof". (or something like that. ) Anywho, glad to know that the critics are looking forwards to this. :>

Richard Roeper is a movie critic who does a movie review show with Roger Ebert, and they argue a lot.

Isn't Ebert the old one. I get confused sometimes. The younger one Roeper hates childrens movies. So I would not expect him too have these good comments on the film.

Let's bombard that jackass with hate mail.
As for Roeper... Phew! *whipes sweat off of forehead* I know Ebert will love it, but Roeper's opinion really counts. It's the truth. Roerper's a hard-ass. Oh well, I think it will be great.

Ebert is the old fat guy, and Roeper's the thin one. I didn't expect Roeper to like this either, because as you said he doesn't much like children's movies.
