Burger King food isn't as fattening as McDonalds food.

Oh sure, LS will make a lot of money, but with this kind marketing, LS will get real old real fast, after that, there will be no more money and no credibility. Selling out . . . the worst thing that can happen to an artist. . . .Shame, a real shame

His books dont read from an artistic stand point of view, they read from an entertaining sort of feel, and that is why this is going to sell big.
And sure this might get old fast, but who cares? Handler is smart. The idea might be stupid, but its going to make him a bunch more money, adding on to the pile he probably posesses as we speak. Lucky him is all I have to say. Some times, you have to sell out to make a good living.

Paramount bought the rights to the books, so maybe they were the ones who agreed to partner with BK.
I just don't see DH stooping that low. I mean, fast food is lower than low.

I totally agree with Swans. But still, I imagine he is going to make some good money off of this.
I remember him stating in one interview that he didnt actually like the idea of toys and such marketing but softened to the idea when he remembered the fun he had as a kid with his own action figures and stuff. This means there will be LS action figures and the likes.
I really have changed my mind about the fast food stuff, though. I was in the car with my stepmom, her good friend and that friend's baby boy, sitting in a car seat next to me. Hes usually very well behaved, but on this occasion, he was kinda cranky. So, we all stopped at Mcdonald's for lunch and ate and stuff, but most of the time we were there (when he wasnt at the play place), the kid was playing with his toy. After that, he was as happy as a kid can be at that age. I guess kids really do enjoy this stuff, even if I dont.

I think it will be fun to have LS toys at Burger King. I dont think Handler is stooping so low, he has to make toys at BK. I think if anything it will make LS more popular.

Btu lets be glad its not Mcdonalds. If the past presents the case, then McDonalds restaurants make much cheaper toys than BK.
I remember those Land Before Time puppets! I also remmeber those wierd cars and planes taht turned into monsters or somehting (I dont htink it was Transformers, though). But my absoloute fave fast food toys of all time are the Super Mario Brothers toys at Mcdonalds a long time ago.

Plus doesn't BK usually have cool toys? Perhaps with the influence of Handler the toys will be neat-O. Like maybe they'll come with coded messages, and if you collect all the toys you'll find out the sugarbowl secret. I really hope so. A coded message linked to the books in some way would justify the existance of almost any crassly commercial tie-in. But I must agree that fast-food tie-ins are the lowest form of merchandising, with the possible exception of breakfast cereal(Let that never be!).

I remember him stating in one interview that he didnt actually like the idea of toys and such marketing but softened to the idea when he remembered the fun he had as a kid with his own action figures and stuff. This means there will be LS action figures and the likes. There has been some talk of Palisades doing the toys on collectable websites, but I don't know if they were able to acquire the license. I've seen no press releases on their web site and from watching the coverage of Toy Fair this year, no Snicket toys were mentioned. Mattell did the magic 8-ball, so I thought they had the toy rights. Honestly, I just don't know what they'd make. 12" Klaus and Violet dolls, perhaps, or maybe they'd go the route of Potter this year and produce packs of several, smaller action figures that come with accesories and environments...Like Olaf's House, The Reptile Room, etc. Swans is of course right, and in my mind I've always known this- this film isn't for us, and the merchandise is for all the casual fans who don't care one bit about whether or not Handler has sold out. They just want a Sunny action figure/ bottle opoener.

Wendy's doesnt get quite as much publicity as BK or Mcdonalds, and Ive never even heard of Jack in the Box.
Yeah, Ive always known it too (that this movie wasnt made for the fans, but for everyone else who sucks this stuff up like lachrymose leeches). But Im not scared of any of it. Merchandising may be sometimes phony, but it wont effect the way I watch the movie or read the books. I cant wait for the movie and I will never abandon the books, no matter what the movie is like.
And I think that the action figures (if any of course) will probably be in the same manner as Harry Potter. I actually think a large Olafs House, Reptile Room, etc. playset would be cool to own. But the action figures (as in people, not places) that are made to look realistic usually look pretty dumb. Still, it all depends on who makes them and stuff.
Collectible toys are always well-made adn cool, though.

I've heard of Jack in the Box and even seen it in other states but I've never been there because I'm not allowed to because my mom said that some of her friends have gotten food poisoning there. I do agree that Wendy's is better than BK but as Olafs Associate said, BK has more publicity and I don't mind it, I'd just prefer to go elsewhere.
