I found this at UnfortunateEvents.com. Thanks to them and especially to MrWonderful74.
"Aint It Cool News reported that Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events will be a trilogy (a word which here means, cramming 13 books into 3 movies).
If you don't believe me, here's a clip of the article:
'We heard from one of our friends in North Carolina that Paramount is locking up studio space out there for what they’re calling the first in a “Jim Carrey trilogy.”' -Aint It Cool News
A close source of mine tells me that some books MAY be excluded from the movies, but important issues that were in the books will still be addressed, but in a new and different manner.
I'm trusting Paramount with these decisions.

I found this interesting and thought I should bring it to the attention of the 667ers.

I'm not a big fan of Aint It Cool News. Just rumors...

Leaving some books out! Unspeakable! They'd have to cut out four books to fit three neatly into each movie, and the later books will be very hard to "condense" because they are longer and more complex than the early ones. Hopefully those rumors are false; Ain't It Cool News is sort of spurious.

I doubt very much that this is even true. There is no way, even in Hollywood, that they could do something like that.

I think there will be 4 movies, not three. I have read that article/thingy though.

Ok, I thought it was a new newsstory. I also found it, but just rumor from 13.12.2002!! I think Jim Carrey already has several new movies in the next few years, but we will see.

Well, book 4 isn't really important to the overall plot, but all the books after it are reasonably so. They could cut out book 4, but it would be fun to see on screen. It's not my favorite book, but it's fun.

books 2-4 have dont have anything to do with the central plot. But i still want all of them to be in the movies.

My favorite book is book 3 (because there is a waiter at my local diner who always says the same thing the waiter says in book) and then my least favorite is 4. My second least favorite is 7 but there are some exiting points in it. My favorites are 3,9,8,10,11,1, and 6. Hopefully many of them will not get cut and this was also a very old rumor.

God, you people dont know how to accept things. I cant say this is true or false, but I can easily say its believable. I mean, the most unimportant book so far was TMM. I hope they get rid of that one, except I think Jim in drag would be funny, but oh well. I think they could easily cram 13 books into 3 movies without a doubt, even if they got rid of a book or two or three. Nobody said tehy had to put only three stories into one movie anyways. They can do what they want in the time limit they see fit. As the movies go on, Im sure they will be longer in time span.
And then there is Snicket fan claiming that people being pushed into lion pits and mechanical octopi and underwater scenes would be too tough or unbelievable to do. That stuff is easy (compared to most of the stuff in hollywood which usually has lower budgets than this), believe me.
Id rather see them do three than 5, because by the time they hit a third one anyways, theyll probably have to have new kids for it.
Anyway, what Im trying to say in summary is that if this is the case, or anything like this for that matter, you guysll have to learn to deal with it instead of going on forums screaming at the top of your typing lungs. Live and learn people.

MrWonderful74 here!
I posted that at Unfortunate Events. I found the article at Aint It Cool News, and from what I've heard from a close source, it is true. But you never know, things tend to change, sometimes at last minute. For example, the puppet show in The Reptile Room was supposed to be included in the movie, then Paramount decided to keep it out, and now there are rumors that the puppet show will still be included during the part of the movie where the kids are at Monty's house. BUT! BUT! The puppet show was NEVER going to cover all of the Reptile Room. It would only be a short segment where a story is being told.
I hope this helped somewhat.

Once again, the 3 movies is just a POSSIBILITY. Personally, I believe there will be 4 or 5 movies. But the news about 3 movies has been around for about 2 years now. And thank you to the person who pointed out it was an article from December 2, 2002, because I know the article was that old. That doesn't change much, though. Once again, three movies is nothing more than a possibility. I'm praying for 4-5 movies.

Scripts change, thats how it works. The original script included the puppet show. Everything past that booted it. Thats the way the movie business works. But just because a script changes doesnt mean the idea of a trilogy will. Just live with the matter. If this isnt the case, good, if it is, okay, so what, three movies, big deal, case closed. Thats all I really have to say.
