What? Was that sacastic, or does being knighted make you a count?

Sarcasm.
Being knighted makes you a knight. In the English peerage, there are Earls, not Counts. They rank right below Dukes in the scheme of things. The French used that rank, and so Dumas wrote the Count of Monte Christo. In that case Edmond Dantes became rich and called himself a count. Maybe Olaf just calls himself a count and hopes to become rich.

In another string, under sardonic series, someone mentioned the possibility that 'Count Olaf' might not even be his real name. So many of his aliases are anagrams; why couldn't 'Count Olaf' be an anagram of his real name? Perhaps (and please forgive me K... *bows in K's direction, then runs and hides in case she finds this subject...*), like Voldemort in the Harry Potter books, 'Count Olaf' is something he made up from his real name... that could even account for the fact that, in the transcript of the VFD meeting in LSUA, 'O' (Olaf, supposedly) wants to be called 'T'. Well, what do the rest of you think?
<End transmission.>
