random thoughts, questions, ect.
VFD Judge disguise: robe (black) + wig (gray, judicial)
has a library
question: P. 35 TBB I wanted to see how you children were settling in, but I had a very difficult case in the High Court and it was taking up most of my time.
I really can't discuss it because it's official business. But I can tell you it concerns a poisonous plant and illegal use of someone's credit card.
Any follow up to this case in the books?

Yes. They were. I think this is a hint to Justice Strauss; we already know that Jacques Snicket was in VFD. He passed away. ANYWAY! It could also be Jerome. And, at Lemony Snicket.com, if you figure it out correctly, it says People with the same initials can cause much injustice. Hmm...

It's "many indivuals have the same initals which can lead to much injustice." That fact of double, or triple initials aregoing around causes injustice, not the people.
Anyone, I dno not believe Strauss is a member. She would know Olaf is evil, and Olaf could've given her the outfit.

True, she would've known he was wicked.

I have a friend whoes dad is a judge, and he isn't all that busy. I think that there is no realtion. Justice Strauss probably isn't from VFD. Wouldn't she have tried to tamper with the script or something in The Marvelous Marriage? And when she was going to have make up put on, her eyes went a glazy and she was happy and such. Wouldn't a VFD member be really used to having to put on lots of makeup? Hmmm, thoughts?

But Justice isn't her real name, just her title as a judge, so wouldn't the initials in the jam jar have to be different if it were her, because Justice wouldn't be her name...(Unless it were Jesse or something...)

Indeed it is fishy-- is Justice Strauss really a judge? Now, if she is an actress/volunteer maybe her orders were to not tamper with Olaf's plans but catch Olaf in the act so that Olaf would be arrested. Or maybe she was sent to test the Baudelaires, and see if the B's could devise their own plan. Yes, I agree with that. But Justice isn't her real name, just her title as a judge, so wouldn't the initials in the jam jar have to be different if it were her, because Justice wouldn't be her name...(Unless it were Jesse or something...) Maybe Lemony was trying to make a red herring...or maybe, like sometimes I write something and find that I added something that I didn't mean to (but it doesn't mess up the story) so you just leave it in...I think that's what Snicket did. I think he was trying to connect a VFD-er (Jacques) with a person so near to VFD (Jerome). And maybe Justice just snuck in there so he'll reveal her real name to be like Ronda or something...

If Justice Strauss weren't a real judge, then the marriage wouldn't have been legal anyway. Strauss wouldn't have felt so bad about what she almost made happen, and it wouldn't have mattered what hand Violet signed with. I beleive Strauss is a real judge with ties and friends to VFD, but I don't think she knows a lot about the organization. Someone from VFD may have asked her to keep an eye on the kids, so she did her best, not really knowing the full extent on the situation. Just like Jaques telling Jerome Squalor to buy the penthouse apartment. Obviously, the two are friends, but Jerome doesn't know much about what's really going on. They're probably just friends of members of VFD and keep a look-out and do favors like anyone would for a friend, so I think Strauss is a judge and not a member of VFD (but still could be). That's just my thought.
