I just finished the first to LS books and the Unauthorized Autobiography of LS and was wondering if it is better to read UALS until after reading a good deal of the books. For example, I just realized that Count Olaf might be a member of the VFD. One of the frequently asked questions about the VFD was do you still have to get a tatto. Just a theory. And a question!

You're probably right that the Unauthorized Autobiography should be perused later. It didn't come out until after book the eighth and only made marginal sense then.

I suggest reading all the books of the series that you can, then trying TUA again. It makes much more sense that way, plus you'll learn things you didn't notice from the first time you read it due to lack of knowledge of the series (I myself am reading it for the third time, and still find new things).

Ideally you should read it after HH, since I THINK that's when it was published.
