Not to rain on your parade, but all you'll ever get are automated replies. Don't expect a personal e-mail from Lemony Snicket (or even Daniel Handler).

I don't know of any PO Box number. I've searched here and never found it. The best address to try is the official Harper-Collins address.

I wrote to Daniel Handler a many months ago, and sent it to his PO box instead of his publishers, and believe it or not, he wrote back a couple of months later. This mail was snail mail, so calm yourself. I was very pleased when it came, I was jumping with joy. The text within the letter is below, and pictures of the letter follow. The letter read: nly two things are more hazardous than writing to me during these times. They are eating mussles in July and receiving a rep y from me, both of which may leave you feverish, shaking, and alone. However, it c n also be very uncomfortable to wait day a ter day for a reply that never comes, as I have since my last letter to a dear frie d. Consequ ntly, I m sending you a lette containing Very Few Details. Accept my hum le thanks and fervent wishes for your continued saftey, as well as the safet of the familiar-looking neighbor with whom you have never spoken. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket *** He left out some letters, and when I wrote them down, it came out to say "Olaf is nearby". Pictures of le letter: Front of the letter: *** It says via VERY FAST DELIVERY Inside of the letter: And the back was just plain. ;D That's cool. I e-mailed him once. The message was coded with some words in all caps, and the coded message said "Your teacher is working for Count Olaf".

I wrote to harpersnicket@harpercollins.com and said, "I usually HATE automatic letters. Especially if I have important information about Various Floatation Devices. Tell "L" I MUST speak with him! I have Vital Familiar Dictations from the from the last meeting.
~Page Turner~"
And I got the auto letter back that said, "You have reached the offices of HarperCollins, publisher of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Mr. Snicket has not been in touch with us for some time. We suspect that his work may have taken him as far away as the Stricken Stream, where he is allegedly researching the lives of the Baudelaire orphans.
If you have emailed in order to schedule an appearance by the author, we regret that given his present commitments, he is unable to book future events at this time.
If you are seeking assistance in your own research, we are afraid that we are unable to provide additional information into the life or work of Lemony Snicket. All available information can be found in the books in A Series of Unfortunate Events, Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography, and www.lemonysnicket.com. As book publishers, we are also unable to answer questions concerning the movie, but you can visit the movie's website at www.unfortunateeventsmovie.com. We regret that we can't be of more assistance.
If your query is of a related publishing nature, we will make our best effort to follow up with you via email at our earliest convenience.
Thank you for being in touch."

oh and if you write to lsnicket@harpercollins.com you get: Dear Reader, In this large and alarming world, there are many, many types of mail. There are small envelopes that contain perfumed stationary filled with spelling mistakes, and large boxes that contain wild hippopotamuses and have breathing holes punched in them. There are postcards containing almost no information at all, and e-mails from volunteers who are concerned about the fate of particularly unlucky siblings. There are even mysterious electronic messages from famous authors who are hiding but still wish to thank you for your note and pass along a very important piece of information about the title of their next novel. Unfortunately, this message is not any of these things. In fact, this is a form letter, an _expression which here means "it is disguised to look as if Mr. Snicket is not personally responding." Please be reminded of Mr. Snicket's strong desire that you read some other, more pleasant books. Furthermore, it may be dangerous to write to him or for him to write to you directly, under any circumstances. In closing, please do not continue your investigation at www.thenamelessnovel.com. With all due respect, Not Lemony Snicket
