OMG me too, I received it yesterday...I'm partway through, it's okay. Some of the stories bother me, though, because they're just so shallow. Well, not the stories, but the supposed love in the stories.
[spoilers]
For example, the whole Peter thing. I mean, he sees a taxi driver and is all of a sudden OMG I love you? It just seems implausible.
"Soundly" was sad. I really liked it, though.
All in all, there are some good ones, but it's not as great as I had anticipated.
Also, does it remind anyone else of Amber's "Seven Deadly Sins"? I love how the characters are all interconnected, although it's often quite confusing.

It was REALLY confusing. The Peter thing was just part of it. Some crazy guy in NY falling in love in about 2 seconds is certainly plausible, it might be rare but it could happen once in a blue moon. The book is meant to cover all instances from a high school crush to 'love at first sight' it would seem. Friendship too.

What was your favourite Adverb?
Mine might have been Obviously or any one with Helena in it. Helena's was my favourite storyline, perhaps because it was the easiest to follow. And her husband, David, went to Canada!
However, my favourite part of the book was in Obviously, when Joe mentioned his friend Garth and his girlfriend Kate. It's a Basic Eight reference, and it made me squee.

I finished it!
Okay, discussion time?
I loved all the stories with Allison in them. They were all rather poignant, yet humorous at the same time.
I also really enjoyed "judgmentally." It made me laugh.
Overall, it really was quite a good novel. The magpies were a nice touch, as was the volcano. There were just all these little details which made it what it was.
It was, however, rather extremely confusing - I'll have to reread it and note down who's in a relationship with whom in each story next time.

Indeed, I love Handler touches when he runs themes through the novel. Like the Michaelangelo's David, or magpies, or opera, or a certain line in a song.
Next time I read it, I'm going to link all the storylines, if I can. I may need help on this.

I love how Handler puts music in his novels. There was blaring music all through tb8, half of WYM was an opera, and there were countless albums with Andrea and Sam in Adverbs. Plus the jukeboxes. Judgmentally was hilarious. "Joe is excused. Several other people are excused. I will now read their names out loud, incorrectly, and real slow." Soundly was sad but I still liked it. Obviously was also quite good. But Helena's stories were my favorite as well because they were, as snicketfires says, easiest to follow(at leaset in my opinion). Plus the money exaggeration was funny.

Finally, I get to post here.
I got Adverbs today (still managing to get it several days after our substantially late release date), and I finished reading it a few minutes ago. I'd say it's probably my favourite book of the year so far. I liked the obvious things, the way everything recalled everything else - was everything else, except for the adverbs. I think my favourites may have been Truly, because it's interesting to hear from Handler, and Often, because I found it both sharply witty to begin with and later on quite sad.
Ironically, the post I'm making pretty much marks the point at which I should probably unsticky this.
Edit: Oh, and I forgot to complain about this yesterday. They messed up the front flap / back flap thing! On the original it was all coolly formatted and neat, but they've changed it in the U.K. editions to plain text on a white background and it's all on the front flap. I knew that they'd change that, and I knew they'd do it for no reason at all.

Wait so there's no funky comic style art on the UK edition? Truly was the one where Handler rambled about the whole book, correct? The one where he says "God only appears in *insert whatever chapter* as that guy's older sister." What do you think about the book's... convoluted infinite plotlines?

Wait so there's no funky comic style art on the UK edition? The front cover artwork is the same, but it's missing on the front and back flaps (the back flap just contains the bit about Handler and what he's written). And I realised this morning that not only did they leave out the funky art on the flaps, in order to make all the text fit on the front flap, they left out the last bit about the volcano! They don't even mention it. I really liked that bit. Why do British publishers hate Daniel Handler so much? Yeah, that's the one. I really liked the connections he made and the things he talked about in that chapter. Story. Chapter. Adverb. I really enjoyed that. It reminded me of TPP a little, in that it's not just the stories that happened, it's the stories that didn't happen, the events that you can infer but which are never written about, the gaps between each adverb.

I read this for an independant study in English class and thoroughly enjoyed it! The writing style was my favourite aspect of the novel- of course, the vignettes were well done too. I thought the format of it was very cool. Haven't read a book like it (I'm not a well-read person, mind).
It was confusing, but I think I got past that early on because some of the characters aren't even the same even when they have the same name... I really enjoyed "Obviously" Blue eyes, green eyes, grey eyes.

The confusing plotline was somewhat amusing but also somewhat frustrating for me. I really liked Obviously. Yay for Gawain! They left out "In my opinion a volcano automatically makes a story more interesting"? Weird...

Yay! I finally got my copy of Adverbs. I bought an autographed copy off of Ebay. Now I can finally read it.
