ok for my resolve to read all the books on p 131, i have read Ramona Quimby Age 8. Here is what i found: page:177-178 plus a picture of what he might look like
"[Ramona] even danced a to the music and, when the tune came to an end, she turned around and found herself face to face with an old man with neatly trimmed grey hair and a moustache that turned up at the ends. He was dressed as if everything he wore- a flowered shirt, striped tie, tweed coat and plaid slacks- had come from different stores or a rummage sale, except that the crease in his trouseres was sharp and his shoes were shined. The old man, whose back was very straight, saluted Ramona as if she were a soldier and said, " Well, young lady have you been good to your mother?"
ramona doesnt answer, and this takes place in a resteraunt. later this man salutes ramona again and pays for there dinner. i dont have my book with me right now, can someone tell me exactly what was said when DH quoted Ramona from the book?

when vfd members are in a certain library and whistle a certain tune, a librarian asks them "have you been good to your mother?" and the librarian always is described as the one in ramona. the correct reply, i think was "the question is, has she been good to you?" or something like that

i am pretty sure the tune is mozart's 14th symphony, or something. read the autobiography, p 146. there is a man wandering around trying to spy for olaf and he says he walked into a library, whistling his favorite tune, when the librarian asks the question

I'm pretty sure Ike was in vfd, too because somewhere in TSS, it mentions (somebody) anwhistle, who liked to be called Ike. And the Ivan Lachrymose book was hidden under his bed.

aha! ikeanwhistle! OMG! i thought anwhistle was a good name for a grammer person... shouldn't it be awhistle because W is not a vowel, lol. n/m
oh! josephine said ike liked grammer. maybe that was his notetaking skill... besides him being a doctor.
