In a interview Daniel Handler said this:
I: Susan Rich is the Canadian connection to these books I guess isn't she?
DH: Ah yes. She's a Winnipeger.
I: Yay!
DH: She's currently in New York but she's a born and bread Winnipeger.
Note her last name; [glow=red,2,300]R[/glow]ich and note where she came from; Winnipeg!
It all makes sense, bar the facts that it's her last name and she (at least I think not) is not a character.

It all makes sense, bar the facts that it's her last name and she (at least I think not) is not a character. One of the anagrams in THH is LISA N. LOOTNDAY which comes out neatly to Alison Donalty. She does design work on the series. Anybody can be a character if Daniel likes. Good find.

So, is Susan Rich an anagram for any of the HH patients?

No, unfortunately. Here's a webpage with the list: www.angelfire.com/ga2/LoneWolf/SnickStuff/Anagrams.htmlThe only one which I believe has not been correctly identified is RUTH DĂ‹RCROUMP. This is declared on the page to be TORCH UP MURDER which fits with the fire theme, but it is not a name. The list itself comes from pages 157-158 and 159 in THH. I prefer the list on page 159, and I ignore the names without lines through them because they are ones that constitute the puzzle for the orphans. The ones with lines are the fun ones for the fans to decipher.

Susan Rich could be an anagram for someone we haven't met yet.
