It just seems to me to have some significance... I don't know why.

Maybe you should check every book on page 189. But your right, I doubt Snicket would just pick a number.

Do you believe in coincidents?
Page 189 of Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography is the "Infrequently Asked Question About V.F.D."

I'm thinking that's no coincidence but other than that I can't think of another reason why that number'd be special. It was 200 pages, so 189 obviously isn't 13 from the end. *shrug*

What could the questions have been according to you?
Question One: "No" Lemony answered. It could have been all kind of question... Question Two: It must have been "Do you remember the first time we met?" Question Three: "Absolutely Not"... See Q.1 Question Four: It must have been "Do you remember when I dropped my hatpin off the stage, do you remember that you read the poem (My Silence Knot?) that was in the program twice? Question Five: "Three Children" I can't guess the question... Question Six: "What is an a-brae man?" I guess Question Seven: "What is a baticeer?" I guess, even though it is strange that Beatrice doesn't know the answers of the two last question. Question Eight: "What is an anagram?" I guess... Although it's even more strange... Question Nine: "Do you still love me?" I think. Question Ten: Lemony answers "No" See Q.1... Question Eleven: "What can be coded?" Weird question from Beatrice... Question Twelve: Lemony tells Beatrice to read the answer to question 5... and he adds "Kit, Jacques and myself" So the "Three Children" thing reports to the Snicket siblings... Question Thirteen: Lemony says " "I'm sorry I cannot answer this last question" " between the ""... So I guess it's an answer to a question like "What did X. said?"

I think Beatrice is hinting at a secret message in the sonnet by asking about the baticeer, etc. She has to know the answers to the literal questions.
