in a letter in UA , its stated the combination for a safe is 'the same as our headquarters on d. avenue'. well, this was assumed to be '6-6-7', and could be the floor above the penthouse (in EE, the children wondered why there was an 'up' button on the top floor). but i think its the 'veritable french diner' on 441 (i think). of course, the restaurant may be another complete coincedence (Village of fowl devotees, volunteers fighting disease, very fancy doilies) but jerome goes there to eat, and he's definitely connected with VFD in some way or another.
i read somehwere but can't remember where, people wondering if lemony and beatrice were engaged, they were, in the UA theres a letter and photo that says 'Lemony and Beatrice : Love conqers nearly everything', from the vineyard of fragnant drapes, mentioned in either book 9 or 10, 'the childrens parents took them to a vineard with very fast donkeys' or something. anyway. that was just while its on my mind.
and beatrice almost definitely IS the children's mother, you an work it out from the UA, the page with the review of the play, but i cant remember how, but i did work it out, and only after that saw all the theories online. sorry about the vagueness of all this, but its just while its on my mind im just bundling it up.

How far have you read? Until which book, I mean? Because if you've read at least until TPP, you should know the information I posted in the next post, because they're spoilers. Besides, other than the V.F. Diner theory, all the theories are old. I think you've taken quite some time to type all this up, and we should certainly acknowledge that.

THE PENULTIMATE PERIL SPOILERS (highlight to reveal):
Jerome Squalor is not connected with VFD at all, at least before the Hostile Hospital. It's only after the Vile Village events take place that he starts searching for the Baudelaires again and somewhere along the way becomes a volunteer. However, you may not be right that the Veritable French Diner is a VFD HQ. It's definitely a VFD place, but a headquarters is different from just a VFD hangout. A headquarters is a 'safe place', is it not? Quigley says in TSS that the passageways between houses lead to safe places. The Baudelaire passageway leads to the penthouse, and there's a floor above the penthouse. Quite self-explanatory. The vineyard was probably the Vineyard of Fragrant Drapes, because I think it mentions that the grapes were fragrant (Vineyard of Fragrant Grapes was the public name of the vineyard.) If you've read The End, you'll know that Beatrice is in fact the Baudelaires' mother.
END SPOILERS.
Sorry for the double posting, but I don't know how to make text only show up if you highlight. Grey is not an option in the font colours.
