Well, I just came back and realised I left my computer running after I had to leave, and have been logged on for two and a half hours... meh. Oh, well. Anyway, I made a couple of drawings relating to ASOUE... The first one is just a book going up in smoke, the next is the VFD sugar bowl, there are flames at the top and the insignia on the bottom, and the shadow is the insignia if you look closely. The last one is just a computer-created image I decided to do. www.geocities.com/imagine_petz//theworldisquiethere.htmlWhat do you think?

the sugar bowl has some nice shading, and the way you put words in the smoke above the book is cool. I like your pictures.

Yay! Constructive crit is awesome (and I'll try to give some), and so, might I add, are your drawings! ;D
The book is very nicely done with the burn marks and whatnot. The fire is very imaginatively done, well shaded, and it's a good concept. It's a very striking image, with the contrast between the scorch marks and the white pages, but there's more to it once you look again. Great! The one thing I'm spotting with the book is the angle and roundness (this isn't the right word) .It looks flatter in general, and wider at the top than the rest of it. The bottom is well rounded and booklike, but the top is all of a sudden flat and. I'd just round out the top, there. I'm also wondering what medium this is...?
In the sugarbowl picture, I again like the subtle refernce in the shadow. Very creative! I also like the design of the sugar bowl, but I'd shade the curves a tad more to give it more form and depth. The burning page is also awesome. The white on black is very eye-catching and the fire is very nicely done. I like the edges of the little burnt spots, too. Not too focused: they give a good impression of burntness. The only problem I can see is the smoke: is it on the page (2 dimensional) or being created by the fire (3d)? The words seem to be written over it.... Is it meant to be a hook? It kind of looks like a hook to me. Cool! ;D
This is really great stuff! It's got a really imaginative concept behind it, and the images are eye-catching, but with small details that draw the viewer's interest. It's really well done and I'd love to see more! I'll have to say my favourite is the book: it's wonderful!
I hope you don't mind that this is so long... It's mostly praise, though, so let's say it's a good thing.
By the way, do you happen to be a big Petz fan? I went through a Dogz phase awhile back, and I noticed the "Petz" in your URL...

Wow! Now _that's_ a helpful review if I ever saw one ;D are you or have you ever taken an art criticism class? It's very articulate and understandable. The medium for the book is pencil scetching, and afterwards details such as the smoke contrast and the book are colored with a computer. And lazy me, I didn't use a ruler, hence the "roundness" you're seeing near the top of the book ^_^ Thanks for the comment on the sugar bowl, I'm actually working right now on shading so it should come in handy in the future. The smoke? Yes, it's 2-dimensional, which is why the words are written over it. A hook? Never noticed that... but I like the idea. I'll go with that. And thank you for writing such a long review! One of the reasons I posted them here was to see what I was doing correctly and what I need improvement on, and your post helped a lot. Last but not least, I'm a huge long-time petz fan since 1999 If you go to the initial www.geocities.com/imagine_petz page you'll see it's a petz website called... Imagine. Yeah. Anyway, I really apreciated your post.

Thanks! No, I've never taken a criticism class, but I really enjoy art in general (drawing myself and checking other peoples' art), and try to give helpful comments when I can... Most of it I've just picked up along the way.
Sadly, I no longer have Petz, and haven't really been a huge fan since way back in... the year Dogz 4 came out, whatever it was... Nice site, though!
