Mark Ryden digs deep into his weird imagination and paints what he feels. His art is like morbid childrens stories that could possibly make your skin crawl. Mark Ryden is my favorite artist of all time and I think you might enjoy his art too. www.markryden.com

It looks like it refers to Charles Baudelaire's Les Fleurs de Mal more. It's a similar tone to Helquist's work, but darker and gorier, and it doesn't really have much to do with the Lemony Snicket books at all.
Still suggesting Creativity instead.

Oh, sorry. I didn`t realize I put it into the wrong forum until I read the summary of Aggravating Art just now. Sorry guys! Also, those paintings aren`t "evil". They are brilliant.

It's okay, understandable how you could have gotten mixed up.
Those paintings are very nice, by the way. Definite Edward Gorey vibes.

I agree, they're wonderful. And since they do have some relevance to Snicket (or at least the style and feel) I don't think anyone will kill you for putting them here, although they may have been better in Creativity. Meh.
Anyway, they remind me of one children's illustrator (I had only 2 of her books and we may have sold them so I don't know his/her name), whose books had changelings and spooky things with similar rounded, pale faces.
But somewhere in the weird paintings of dead babies and such, I think there's a sort of dark humour, or commentary, or both...
Anyway, I think artistically/technically they're gorgeous (lots of surrealistic shading and good stuff like that) and I like the style and the general weirdness/darkness a lot!
YAY!
