ok... I have read the DH is in a band called the magnetic feilds. That clears that up.
I have resolved to read all the books listed on page 131. Surprisingly, most of them are real books, such as green mansions...I believe the only ones that weren't (or ones I didn't bother to check, because of obviousness) were- Ivan Lachrymose, I lost something at the movies, Lucky Smells Lumbermills, & ASOUE & coded poetry
I can't check because brilliantly I left LSUA at the library after checking out the books... and I can't get it until Wednesday (today's Monday) because tomorrow is Remebrence day and it's closed
In the index under "red herring" it brings you to page 29 (?) where it has all those pictures of people, such as beatrice the sister etc...

"I lost something at the movies" is a real book. The actual title is "I lost it at the movies" by Pauline Kael.

While there is a book called the Littlest Elf, it's not the one by Monty Kensickle (which is an anagram of Lemony Snicket).

It's ok I have Green Mansions. Currently I am reading To Esmé with love and Squalor by JD Salinger. Oddly, JD Salinger writes like Daniel.
In the publishers page in LSUA theres a list of things the author has been called
an embattled gentleman, a magnetic field, an arsonist...And other things, and people were wondering why he was called a magnetic field, neggie.
My library actually doesn't have either book The Littlest Elf or I Lost It At The Movies...

Has anyone read Matilda yet? I don't think it has any codes because I have read it loads of times and have not noticed anything.

Daniel Handler isn't in the Magnetic Fields. He is friends with Stephin Merritt, the frontman, who also does music for ASOUE as The Gothic Archies. Daniel Handler often steps in on accordian, but he isn't a band member.
